What you'll do:
- Post all incoming receivable payments, including trade, distributor, international, and miscellaneous transactions, ensuring accurate allocation to customer accounts.
- Provide comprehensive accounts payable analysis by verifying supplier data accuracy, reconciling withholding tax or indirect tax, and ensuring timely invoice processing as well as travel and expense reimbursements.
- Ensure completeness and precision of accounts payable accruals along with any other reporting tasks assigned to support departmental objectives.
- Create and update process flows, policies, procedures, and training materials for designated areas to maintain high standards of compliance and efficiency.
- Participate actively in projects such as internal or external audits, year-end reviews, and SOX compliance by analysing data, testing solutions, and making recommendations for improvement.
- Resolve complex issues related to invoices or supplier setup by collaborating closely with other departments or suppliers to achieve timely closure.
- Act as the lead contact in the supervisor’s absence, providing guidance and support to colleagues as needed.
- Identify deficiencies in accounting systems, recommend process enhancements, and partner with IT teams to implement necessary changes for improved financial reporting.
- Facilitate internal control activities on SOX key controls by ensuring all processes are completed accurately with audit-worthy documentation.
- Deliver regular internal training sessions to stakeholders and perform external calls to suppliers when required.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration is required; Master’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred for candidates with at least one year of relevant experience.
- Minimum three years’ previous experience in accounts payable or related finance roles within a corporate environment is essential.
- Proficiency in Japanese language at N1/N2 level is required to facilitate effective communication with regional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex issues using sound judgement and problem-solving techniques.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office Suite including Excel are mandatory; experience with integrated systems such as JDE is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication abilities combined with strong interpersonal relationship-building skills are vital for success in this collaborative role.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting concepts and principles alongside expertise in at least one functional area impacting business operations.
- Exceptional attention to detail coupled with the capacity to manage multiple priorities efficiently within a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work dependably within a team setting while also managing vendor relationships and stakeholder expectations effectively.
- Experience providing training or coaching others as well as influencing cross-site activities is considered advantageous.
