QA Automation Lead (Regional Banking)

What you'll do:

As a Quality Assurance Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of software testing—from initial requirement analysis through final delivery. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including engineering leads, release managers, product owners, database administrators, messaging teams, integration specialists, modelling experts, and architects. You will participate in daily stand-ups, user story grooming sessions, retrospective meetings, code reviews, defect logging via Azure DevOps Work Items, as well as functional and technical test executions (both manual and automated). Your role will require you to develop robust automation scripts using frameworks such as Selenium Java with Cucumber or other BDD tools; perform mobile application testing across iOS/Android platforms; ensure adherence to Agile practices; coordinate resources across multiple locations; manage stakeholder relationships; embed ethical conduct; comply with regulatory standards; support capability development; create positive team environments; communicate technical concepts effectively; multi-task strategically; deliver high-quality results on time; complete goals/projects efficiently; document APIs using Swagger; conduct performance testing using JMeter; apply practical debugging techniques; engage in analytical problem solving; establish delivery governance; lead risk/compliance-driven initiatives; facilitate vendor coordination; influence senior stakeholders through outstanding interpersonal skills.

• Engage in pre-testing activities to identify potential issues in requirements, design specifications, application architecture, and product documentation, ensuring early resolution and smooth project delivery.
• Participate actively in daily stand-up meetings to update the squad team on task progress and foster open communication within the group.
• Contribute to user story grooming sessions with Product Owners by providing accurate estimations and insights based on your testing experience.
• Develop automation test scripts derived from successfully executed manual test cases, enhancing efficiency and repeatability in testing processes.
• Perform functional and technical test execution activities—including automated testing—according to project engagement requirements, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
• Maintain constant communication with stakeholders throughout test planning and execution phases to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
• Log software application defects in Azure DevOps Work Items, track them diligently through closure, and report test status promptly and accurately.
• Apply established test processes within the testing team or adhere to standards defined by projects to maintain consistency and high-quality outcomes.
• Comply with software quality management practices and policies while creating a cohesive and positive working environment within the project team.
• Conduct code reviews with team members to ensure code quality before pushing updates to Git repositories, reinforcing best practices.
• Establish close rapport with squad teams to understand underlying issues and risks associated with projects for proactive mitigation.
• Participate in retrospective meetings to provide constructive feedback aimed at continuous improvement of processes.
• Coordinate resources across different locations for effective stakeholder management and capability development within the unit.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Quality Assurance Lead position brings proven expertise in both manual and automated software testing—particularly using Selenium Java with Cucumber or similar BDD frameworks. • Demonstrated enthusiasm for quality assurance combined with substantial experience in software delivery across manual testing (4-8+ years) and automation using Selenium Java with Cucumber or other BDD frameworks.
• Proven ability in testing Java applications running web services (REST/SOAP) alongside Oracle databases—with REST API experience considered advantageous.
• Extensive experience in mobile application testing on both iOS and Android platforms is required for this role.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills enabling effective communication across diverse audiences as well as influencing cross-functionally within large organisations.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear language suitable for non-technical stakeholders ensures seamless collaboration between business units.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science/software engineering/information technology (or equivalent experience) provides foundational knowledge essential for success.
• ISTQB certification is considered an advantage but not mandatory for this position.
