A leading financial institution in Selangor is seeking a highly skilled Java Backend Engineer to join their global Application Development, Support and Engineering Team. What you'll do:

As a Java Backend Engineer based in Selangor, you will play a pivotal role in designing robust backend services using industry-leading frameworks such as Spring Boot or Quarkus. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing scalable microservices architectures that support the organisation’s financial operations. You will create RESTful APIs for seamless integration with various systems while ensuring efficient database connectivity through ORM frameworks. Messaging services will be developed using JMS and Solace to enable real-time communication across applications. You’ll leverage platforms like Kong or Axway for secure API connectivity, manage dependencies with Maven, collaborate via Git version control, containerise deployments with Docker, utilise Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines, deploy applications on OpenShift or AWS cloud platforms, implement service virtualisation for testing purposes, write unit tests with JUnit, conduct integration testing between components, document APIs using Swagger, perform performance testing with JMeter, champion Agile practices within the team by coaching others in new techniques, engage collaboratively across multiple technology teams including upstream TP systems and database administrators, apply analytical problem-solving skills through code analysis and debugging scenarios. Success in this role requires technical expertise combined with strong interpersonal skills as you work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java Spring Boot or Quarkus frameworks to ensure reliability and scalability within financial systems.

• Over six years of experience in microservice API development utilising Java frameworks such as Spring Boot or Quarkus within enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in Java programming language including core concepts like object-oriented programming (OOP), data structures, algorithms as well as advanced framework usage such as Hibernate or Apache Struts.
• Demonstrated familiarity with GenAI or AgenticAI tools reflecting a strong AI mindset relevant to modern software engineering practices.
• Extensive experience in cloud-native microservices development coupled with API-first design principles supporting scalable solutions.
• Proven ability in building Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) platforms alongside Dev-in-a-box solutions enhancing developer productivity.
• Strong background in API integrations across enterprise systems as well as external vendor platforms ensuring interoperability.
• Expertise in containerisation technologies including Docker; orchestration tools such as Kubernetes (K8s), SKE; deployment on OpenShift environments; cloud platform experience especially AWS.
• Hands-on proficiency with relational databases like PostgreSQL or Oracle plus NoSQL alternatives; adept at integrating them effectively within full-stack solutions.
• Knowledge of API security mechanisms including OAuth2 authentication protocols; JWT token management; encryption standards; secrets management best practices ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Practical experience implementing Observability/Monitoring tools such as AppDynamics; ElasticAPM; Grafana; Prometheus; ELK stack supporting operational excellence.
• Deep understanding of Agile methodologies at scale; enterprise DevOps practices; Atlassian tool suite usage facilitating collaborative project delivery.
