A leading financial institution in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Application Support (Mobile App), SME in capital markets/investment industry to provide expert application support for mobile apps within the capital markets and investment sector. What you'll do:

As a Application Support (Mobile App) in the capital markets industry, you will play a pivotal role in planning and managing IT projects that underpin critical business operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve supervising a skilled technical team to deliver high-quality outputs within tight deadlines. You will design, analyse, code, and test programs for system development or enhancement based on user specifications. Providing responsive application support is key; you’ll address performance issues swiftly while maintaining open lines of communication with both internal IT teams and business stakeholders. You’ll collaborate closely with vendors and other support teams for seamless feature delivery and testing. Monitoring system performance is essential—your research into improvements will help optimise reliability. Compliance is paramount; you’ll review requirements alongside QA, IT Security, and Audit teams to ensure all standards are met. Success in this role means delivering projects on time and within budget while maintaining system availability above SLA thresholds.

• Plan and manage IT projects related to mobile app support for capital markets and investment systems, exercising prudent project management principles to ensure successful implementation.
• Supervise the technical team by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, motivating members, and managing skill resources to deliver quality output within project deadlines.
• Design, analyse, code, and test programs for system development or enhancements according to user specifications, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
• Provide responsive application support by addressing performance issues and resolving problems promptly to meet user demands and maintain system availability.
• Liaise constantly with internal IT teams throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring smooth communication and coordination for project delivery.
• Engage with business counterparts to address concerns raised during project execution, recommending alternative solutions or workarounds when technical constraints arise.
• Collaborate with vendors, development teams, and support teams for effective delivery and testing of new features or enhancements.
• Monitor overall system performance and availability, planning appropriate actions whenever issues arise to ensure uptime within service level agreements (SLA).
• Research system performance improvements in partnership with the support team to execute optimisations that enhance reliability.
• Review requirements with QA, IT Security, and Audit teams to ensure compliance with IT standards, policies, SDLC procedures, and audit requirements.

What you bring:

To excel as a Application Support (Mobile App) in the capital markets industry, you will bring proven experience in IT application delivery/support or project management within the financial services sector. Your background as a Subject Matter Expert in Unit Trusts or Asset Management & Investment systems will be invaluable. You possess deep technical skills across Java EE technologies—object-oriented programming principles are second nature to you—and you’re adept at designing robust APIs using RESTful approaches. Your hands-on experience spans mobile app development frameworks like React Native/React JS as well as CI/CD pipelines powered by Maven/GitHub. You’re comfortable navigating diverse operating systems from RHEL Linux to Solaris Server environments. Middleware platforms such as Oracle Weblogic or IBM WebSphere are familiar territory; you understand how messaging systems like Apache Kafka integrate into enterprise architectures. Database proficiency is expected—you can tune Oracle SQL queries efficiently—and your web server expertise ensures reliable deployments. Familiarity with Java frameworks like Spring Boot/Spring MVC supports scalable solutions. Monitoring tools such as Nagios/Dynatrace/ELK stack/Grafana enable you to track system health proactively. Your interpersonal skills shine when collaborating across teams; you’re dependable in meeting deadlines while maintaining compliance with IT standards.

• Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology (or equivalent), demonstrating a solid academic foundation relevant to application delivery and support.
• Minimum five years’ experience in IT application delivery/support or IT project management within capital markets or investment-related environments.
• At least five years’ experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Unit Trusts, Asset Management & Investment systems.
• Proficient technical skills including Core Java/Java EE (J2EE), object-oriented programming principles, exception handling, multithreading, design patterns.
• Expertise in API & Web Development: RESTful APIs, Microservices architecture, XML/JSON data formats; HTML5/CSS/JavaScript for web interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with mobile architecture/development using React Native & React JS frameworks.
• Familiarity with CI/CD & build tools such as Maven & GitHub for streamlined deployment processes.
• Competence using tools like JUnit for unit testing; Postman for API testing; JMeter (or equivalent) for performance testing.
• Experience working across multiple operating systems including RHEL Linux, Windows Server, AIX & Solaris Server environments.
• Knowledge of middleware platforms such as Oracle Weblogic, JBOSS/WildFly, IBM WebSphere; messaging systems like Apache Kafka; API Gateway integration.
• Database proficiency: Oracle SQL including stored procedures & performance tuning; web server experience with Apache HTTP Server & Oracle HTTP Server.
• Practical knowledge of Java frameworks including Spring Boot & Spring MVC for enterprise-level application development.
• Monitoring expertise using Nagios/Dynatrace/ELK stack/Grafana for real-time system health tracking.
