Save job

An international B2B technology business is seeking a Commercial Operations Analyst based in Kuala Lumpur to play a pivotal role in supporting commercial and sales functions. This opportunity offers you the chance to work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Finance, Legal, Product, and Operations, ensuring that commercial proposals are reviewed meticulously, pricing and quotation approvals are coordinated efficiently, and deal profitability is assessed accurately.

What you'll do:

As a Commercial Operations Analyst based in Kuala Lumpur, you will immerse yourself in the heart of the organisation’s commercial operations. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating extensively with Sales teams to structure proposals that adhere strictly to established pricing policies. You will coordinate the entire quotation lifecycle—from initial request through order booking—using advanced CRM and CPQ systems. By advising stakeholders on pricing guidelines and approval requirements, you’ll ensure every transaction is processed accurately. Your responsibilities extend beyond transactional tasks; you’ll work alongside Finance to analyse deal economics for optimal profitability while liaising with Legal on contractual nuances. Maintaining comprehensive records of quotations and approvals is essential for compliance. You’ll also play a key role in identifying workflow improvements that enhance efficiency across commercial operations. Reporting on key metrics such as turnaround times or discount trends will enable leadership to make informed decisions. Success in this role requires meticulous attention to detail combined with strong interpersonal skills as you communicate requirements clearly across multiple functions.

  • Collaborate with Sales teams to review both standard and complex commercial proposals ensuring alignment with approved pricing policies and business guidelines.
  • Assess pricing structures, discount requests, commercial terms, and deal profitability while escalating exceptions as necessary to maintain robust governance.
  • Support commercial decision-making by identifying potential risks and securing appropriate approvals from relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end quotation and order management process utilising CRM and configure-price-quote (CPQ) systems for seamless workflow execution.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on pricing guidelines, discount policies, and approval requirements to facilitate accurate quoting procedures.
  • Ensure all quotations, booked orders, and sales backlog records are maintained with precision for complete audit trails.
  • Work closely with Finance to review deal economics including margins and profitability for informed business insights.
  • Liaise with Legal on contractual terms as well as commercial risks or deviations from standard agreements to ensure compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within commercial review workflows by maintaining documentation and recommending enhancements.
  • Prepare reports analysing commercial data to monitor key performance indicators such as quotation turnaround time, discount trends, deal conversion rates, and approval efficiency.

What you bring:

The ideal Commercial Operations Analyst brings proven experience from roles involving commercial operations or sales support within B2B technology businesses. Your academic background in business-related disciplines underpins your understanding of financial principles crucial for reviewing deals. Having worked in environments where subscription-based models or complex transactions are common gives you valuable perspective on market dynamics. You are comfortable navigating CRM platforms like Salesforce as well as CPQ systems for managing quotations seamlessly. Your analytical mindset allows you not only to interpret data but also provide meaningful recommendations that drive operational improvements. Communication is one of your strengths—you articulate pricing requirements or approval decisions clearly whether interacting with senior leaders or cross-functional colleagues. Building trustful relationships comes naturally as you engage collaboratively across departments such as Sales or Finance. Attention to detail is paramount; you maintain accurate records while adhering strictly to compliance standards. Your proficiency in Excel ensures reporting tasks are handled efficiently while your exposure to international teams prepares you for working across time zones.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related discipline provides a solid foundation for understanding commercial operations.

  • Familiarity with CRM systems (such as Salesforce) and CPQ tools ensures you can manage quotations efficiently within digital platforms.
  • Good understanding of pricing structures, discount management practices, deal profitability assessments and commercial governance supports sound decision-making.
  • Strong analytical skills allow you to interpret commercial data accurately for actionable business insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel along with other reporting tools enables you to prepare detailed analyses for leadership review.
