Network Security Engineer

About the Role: We are seeking a Network Security Engineer to join a global telecommunications organisation in Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening network security infrastructure, implementing security controls, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring compliance with established security policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for network security infrastructure, including firewall and security-related issues.
• Manage and maintain firewall policies, rules, objects, and configurations across enterprise network environments.
• Support security technologies such as Check Point, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, and Skybox.
• Analyse security logs, investigate network security incidents, and perform root cause analysis.
• Implement network security controls in accordance with organisational policies and security requirements.
• Review firewall rules and security configurations to identify potential risks and recommend improvements.
• Coordinate remediation activities and follow up on identified security vulnerabilities or control gaps.
• Work closely with network, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Prepare technical documentation, incident reports, and security compliance reports.
• Participate in security reviews, operational improvements, and continuous enhancement of network security controls.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in network security, firewall administration, or enterprise security operations.
• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following technologies: Check Point, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler & Skybox Security.
• Good understanding of firewall rule management, network security controls, and security log analysis.
• Experience in troubleshooting network security incidents and supporting enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP, routing, and network security fundamentals.
• Ability to analyse technical issues, identify root causes, and coordinate remediation activities.
• Good communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive approach to security operations, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant certifications in network security or firewall technologies.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or telecommunications environments.
• Familiarity with security governance, audit requirements, and vulnerability remediation processes.
