IT Finance System Lead (Retail)

Save job

A leading global fashion retailer is seeking an IT Finance System Lead to join their expanding team in Selangor. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role within a virtual global headquarters function, supporting the finance and indirect procurement processes for a rapidly growing international business. You will be empowered to drive meaningful change, enhance system performance, and ensure seamless operations across multiple brands. The organisation is committed to nurturing your professional growth, offering flexible working opportunities and a supportive environment where your expertise will directly contribute to shaping the future of retail technology. If you are passionate about connecting business needs with technical solutions and thrive in a collaborative, multicultural setting, this role offers the perfect platform for you to make a lasting impact. * Join a globally recognised fashion group with a mission to enrich lives and reinvent industry standards through technology and collaboration. * Be part of an inclusive, multicultural team that values knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and mutual support across borders. * Enjoy flexible working opportunities and access to ongoing training designed to help you grow both personally and professionally in a supportive environment.

What you'll do:

As the IT Finance System Lead based in Selangor, you will play an integral role in enhancing global finance and indirect procurement systems for one of the world’s most influential fashion retailers. Your daily responsibilities will centre around collaborating with diverse teams to analyse business needs and deliver robust technical solutions that streamline financial operations. You will take ownership of process improvement projects from conception through deployment—ensuring every stage is executed with precision while maintaining open lines of communication between stakeholders. By managing vendor relationships and providing expert guidance during critical financial periods such as month-end close or payment runs, you will help guarantee uninterrupted service delivery. Your commitment to user empowerment will shine through as you conduct training sessions and foster greater understanding of system capabilities among colleagues. Ultimately, your efforts will underpin the company’s ability to adapt quickly in a fast-evolving market while upholding the highest standards of quality and cost-effectiveness.

  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective finance system solutions that support organisational goals.
  • Analyse existing business processes, identify pain points, and propose comprehensive process remodels (BPR) that drive efficiency and user satisfaction.
  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of process improvements, including resource planning, technical and functional system design, hands-on configuration changes, testing phases, user acceptance support, data migration activities, documentation preparation, and release management.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between business users and IT teams to ensure smooth delivery of integrated finance and procurement processes.
  • Oversee system issue analysis and resolution for all responsible platforms, ensuring minimal disruption to critical business operations.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors providing system maintenance services, ensuring high-quality support aligned with service level agreements.
  • Provide hypercare support during key financial cycles such as month-end close and payment processing, guiding users through complex procedures.
  • Support day-to-day operations by empowering end users with training sessions, knowledge sharing initiatives, and ongoing guidance on best practices within target systems.
  • Continuously improve maintenance processes by monitoring annual costs, operational efficiency metrics, user feedback scores, incident rates, and other relevant criteria.
  • Lead project management activities from scoping and planning through design, implementation, testing, release preparation, go-live execution, and post-launch hypercare.

What you bring:

To excel as an IT Finance System Lead in this global retail environment, you will bring substantial experience working with SAP FICO modules alongside deep familiarity with contemporary finance technologies. Your background should include several years spent managing or administering complex finance systems within large organisations—ideally those operating across multiple regions or markets. A solid academic grounding in management-related disciplines will complement your practical expertise. Your ability to connect people from different backgrounds—bridging gaps between business users and technical teams—will set you apart as someone who thrives on cooperation rather than competition. You are known for your clear communication style: approachable yet thorough when explaining intricate concepts or guiding others through new processes. Your methodical approach ensures nothing is overlooked during project lifecycles—from initial scoping right through post-implementation support—while your empathy helps build trust among colleagues at all levels. Experience with cloud-based finance tools or automation platforms would further enhance your contribution but is not essential if you demonstrate adaptability and eagerness to learn.

  • Demonstrated experience with SAP applications in FICO modules is essential for success in this position.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies relevant to finance systems within large-scale organisations is required.
  • Fluency in English—both written and spoken—is necessary for effective cross-border collaboration.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role involving finance system leadership or administration is expected.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Management, Accounting, Computing, Information Technology or an equivalent field provides the foundation needed for this role.
  • A proven track record of fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams—especially between business units and IT—is highly valued.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including outgoing communication style; rigorous attention to detail; sense of responsibility; self-motivation; independence; strong planning abilities; commitment to achieving excellence are all important attributes.
  • Logical problem-solving abilities combined with a focus on delivering quality outcomes while managing costs are crucial for this position.
  • Experience with market-leading finance SaaS platforms such as Ariba, Coupa or Concur would be advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with automation technologies like Robotic Process Automation (RPA) would be considered beneficial.
