What you'll do:
As an Information Technology Identity and Access Management Manager based in Kuala Lumpur within a global infrastructure team, you will play a central role in shaping how digital identities are governed across the enterprise. Your day-to-day activities will involve designing strategic frameworks for IAM in partnership with cloud architects and security experts; implementing advanced access controls; overseeing the entire lifecycle of digital identities; managing secure authentication protocols; conducting thorough audits; monitoring compliance metrics; reporting insights to senior leaders; collaborating with various departments; and delivering impactful training sessions. Success in this position means not only protecting sensitive information but also fostering a culture of shared responsibility for digital security through effective communication, co-operation, and ongoing education.
- Develop and maintain an enterprise-wide IAM strategy in close collaboration with cloud architects and security teams to ensure robust governance.
- Define, implement, and enforce access control policies such as Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC), and least privilege principles throughout the organisation.
- Oversee the full lifecycle management of digital identities for employees, contractors, services, and applications by managing provisioning, modification, and de-provisioning processes.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding procedures to guarantee timely updates to user access rights in accordance with operational policies.
- Implement secure authentication mechanisms including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Single Sign-On (SSO), OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SAML to protect enterprise resources.
- Govern identity federation processes as well as third-party access into enterprise environments to maintain high standards of security.
- Conduct regular audits and compliance assessments to ensure adherence to internal policies as well as external regulations such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and SOX.
- Monitor identity-related key performance indicators (KPIs) and report findings directly to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with Service Delivery, Security, HR teams, and other stakeholders to align identity governance initiatives with evolving business requirements.
- Provide training sessions and awareness programmes designed to promote secure identity practices across all levels of the organisation.
What you bring:
To excel as an Information Technology Identity and Access Management Manager you will bring extensive experience working within IT security or infrastructure roles—ideally five to eight years—with at least three years dedicated specifically to IAM responsibilities. Your background should include managing complex IAM solutions across hybrid cloud environments using industry-leading platforms like Azure AD or Okta. You will possess deep familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to global enterprises alongside strong interpersonal skills that allow you to work dependably within collaborative teams. Your proven track record includes successful project delivery involving cross-departmental co-operation; hands-on experience with directory services; participation in audit processes; risk assessment capabilities; incident response know-how; plus recognised academic qualifications or professional certifications that reinforce your credibility. Your approach is grounded in empathy for end-users’ needs while upholding rigorous standards for data protection.
- Demonstrated expertise in IAM frameworks, protocols, and technologies such as Azure Active Directory (AD), Okta, or Ping Identity gained through several years of hands-on experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of cloud security principles along with practical knowledge of tools like Conditional Access or Privileged Identity Management within hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Familiarity with compliance standards including ISO 27001, GDPR, SOX—ensuring all IAM processes meet both internal policy requirements and external regulatory obligations.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with problem-solving abilities that enable you to address complex challenges collaboratively while communicating clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects or initiatives involving multiple stakeholders from different departments or regions.
- Experience managing enterprise directory services such as Active Directory or LDAP within large-scale organisations.
- Prior involvement in IAM audits, risk assessments, incident response activities—demonstrating your commitment to responsible governance.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security or related field is highly desirable for this role.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Identity and Access Manager (CIAM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate are considered advantageous.
