Save job

A leading retailer in Southeast Asia is seeking a Data Analyst (Assistant Manager level) to join their Analytics Department in Selangor. You will be part of a knowledgeable team dedicated to making data-driven decisions, where your analytical expertise will help optimise profit margins and enhance the organisation’s competitive edge. If you are passionate about leveraging data to drive meaningful business outcomes, this role could be your next career step.

What you'll do:

As a Data Analytst, you will immerse yourself in the world of data-driven decision-making within one of Southeast Asia’s most respected retail organisations. By analysing complex datasets, you will uncover valuable insights that inform critical business choices. Your work will involve close cooperation with various departments such as Merchandising, Marketing, and Finance to ensure that every pricing initiative aligns with wider organisational objectives. You will also play an instrumental role in building analytical tools like dashboards and models that empower stakeholders at all levels. Additionally, you’ll contribute to the professional development of junior analysts by sharing your expertise while upholding compliance standards throughout all processes. Success in this position means consistently delivering actionable recommendations that drive profitability while nurturing a collaborative team environment.

  • Assist in developing and executing pricing strategies that align with both business objectives and current market conditions, ensuring optimal profitability.
  • Analyse sales data, cost structures, competitor pricing, and customer behaviour to identify actionable opportunities for price optimisation and margin improvement.
  • Collaborate with teams from Merchandising, Marketing, and Finance to ensure all pricing initiatives are integrated seamlessly into broader business plans.
  • Develop and maintain robust pricing models, interactive dashboards, and other analytical tools that facilitate informed decision-making across departments.
  • Support the implementation of new pricing changes and promotional activities while meticulously tracking their effectiveness through data analysis.
  • Conduct scenario analyses and forecasting exercises to evaluate the potential impact of proposed pricing adjustments on revenue and profitability.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior analysts within the pricing team, fostering knowledge sharing and skill development among colleagues.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in retail or FMCG environments where you have honed your skills in analysing large datasets using advanced tools like Excel, SQL, Power BI or Tableau. You are adept at translating complex findings into clear recommendations that resonate with both technical experts and non-technical stakeholders alike. Attention to detail is second nature to you—ensuring every analysis is thorough and reliable—while your commitment to continuous learning keeps you at the forefront of industry best practices. As someone who enjoys supporting others’ growth through mentoring or training initiatives, you contribute positively to an inclusive workplace culture where everyone feels valued.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Finance or a related field is required for this position.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in pricing analytics or retail analytics roles.
  • Advanced analytical skills are essential; proficiency in Excel for complex calculations as well as SQL for database queries is preferred.
  • Experience using data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau will allow you to communicate insights effectively across teams.
  • Excellent communication abilities are necessary for collaborating with diverse stakeholders from different departments.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented
