Production Material Control Manager

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Material Control Manager to join their team in Penang.

This role is pivotal in planning, coordinating, and controlling manufacturing processes and material flow to ensure production efficiency, timely order fulfilment, and optimal inventory levels. The successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth synchronization between demand planning, production scheduling, procurement, and inventory control. What you'll do:

As a Production Material Control Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of our client's manufacturing processes. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all elements of the production process are coordinated effectively. This includes developing the Master Production Schedule (MPS), overseeing Material Requirements Planning (MRP), maintaining optimal inventory levels, and supervising the procurement process. You will also be tasked with continuously improving planning, inventory control, and production processes using lean principles.

• Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) aligned with customer demand, capacity, and material availability.
• Collaborate with Sales, Procurement, and Production teams to create feasible production plans.
• Monitor production performance, adjust schedules as needed, and ensure adherence to deadlines.
• Implement and oversee Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to ensure materials and components are available for production.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels, reducing excess stock while avoiding material shortages.
• Coordinate with the procurement team for timely sourcing and delivery of raw materials.
• Continuously improve planning, inventory control, and production processes using lean principles.
• Supervise and guide the buyer/purchasing team to ensure timely procurement of materials in accordance with production plans.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Production Material Control Manager position brings a wealth of experience in production planning and material control. You have strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems like SAP, Oracle or MS Dynamics. Your background includes experience with lean manufacturing, JIT, and continuous improvement methodologies. You possess proven abilities in production and capacity planning as well as inventory management. Your excellent analytical skills enable you to make sound decisions even under pressure. As a leader, you demonstrate strong cross-functional leadership abilities along with effective communication and collaboration skills.

• Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics).
