A leading organisation in the fast-moving consumer goods sector is seeking a Sourcing Lead for Raw and Packaging Materials to join their team in Subang Jaya.

What you'll do:

As a Sourcing Lead - Direct Materials (FMCG), you will play an integral part in driving procurement strategies that align with business goals while fostering strong relationships across internal teams and external suppliers. Your day-to-day activities will involve negotiating contracts, monitoring market developments for cost optimisation opportunities, supporting product innovation through material insights, coordinating with regional partners for sourcing synergies, ensuring compliance with stringent quality standards, guiding inventory management practices during volatile periods, advancing sustainability efforts by promoting eco-friendly solutions, mitigating supply chain risks through proactive planning, and delivering actionable reports on performance metrics. Success in this role requires a commitment to collaboration across departments as well as a keen understanding of how sourcing decisions impact overall business outcomes.

• Lead the end-to-end sourcing process for raw and packaging materials, including identifying, evaluating, and establishing relationships with both new and existing suppliers to ensure reliable supply chains.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and service levels with suppliers to secure favourable contract terms that support business objectives while maintaining high standards of quality.
• Continuously monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and innovations in raw and packaging materials to drive cost reductions and optimise value for the organisation.
• Collaborate extensively with R&D, product development, manufacturing, logistics, and other internal teams to ensure specifications are met and optimised for performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
• Support the packaging design process by providing insights into material availability, cost considerations, and supplier capabilities to enhance product offerings.
• Ensure all sourced materials comply with relevant quality standards and regulatory requirements—including safety, food-grade certifications, and environmental regulations—by working closely with Quality Assurance teams.

What you bring:

To excel as a Sourcing Lead, you will bring substantial experience gained from previous roles in procurement or supply chain management where you have developed expertise in negotiating contracts with suppliers while maintaining focus on quality assurance.

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering or a related field is required; advanced degrees or professional certifications such as CPSM or APICS are highly regarded.
• At least 5 years’ proven experience in sourcing, procurement or supply chain management roles focused on raw or packaging materials within FMCG or similar industries.
• Demonstrated ability in supplier negotiations including contract management and building long-term supplier relationships based on trust and mutual benefit.
• Comprehensive knowledge of raw/packaging materials markets including familiarity with suppliers across multiple sectors such as pharmaceuticals or consumer goods.
• Proficiency using procurement software tools along with advanced Excel skills; experience working within ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle is desirable.
• Understanding of sustainability practices including relevant certifications like FSC or ISO 14001 is considered advantageous for promoting green initiatives within sourcing activities.
