Export Assistant Manager (Chemical) A leading global chemical organisation is seeking an Export Assistant Manager to join their Kuala Lumpur team. This role presents an exciting opportunity for you to manage export operations supporting worldwide delivery services across EMEA, while nurturing a collaborative and supportive team environment. You will play a pivotal part in driving service excellence, optimising processes, and ensuring compliance with international regulations.
What you'll do:
- Oversee the operational service delivery team responsible for processing orders and documentation for exports from multiple business units, ensuring compliance with legal, country-specific, or customer regulations.
- Plan and organise resource requirements for the export management team, including recruiting new talent and facilitating ongoing team development.
- Collaborate closely with internal business partners such as Business Units, Customer Service, and Transport Management to address requirements and maintain high levels of service quality.
- Establish active communication channels and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders by taking ownership of problem-solving to meet business and customer needs.
- Manage LSP (Logistics Service Provider) performance by providing input on service requirements and collaborating on issues, risks, feedback, and improvements to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Drive risk management activities related to team operations and service providers, including access management, data protection, business continuity processes, and periodic reviews.
- Lead knowledge management efforts by structuring review processes, updating procedures regularly, and ensuring effective knowledge retention within the team.
- Take responsibility for reporting and analytics related to operational data quality for management and stakeholder review.
- Participate in projects or initiatives aimed at further developing and optimising service delivery processes through defined cross-sectional tasks.
- Support change management efforts by implementing new tools or digital applications that improve supply chain efficiency.
What you bring:
- Minimum degree in supply chain management, business administration or international business; other tertiary education considered if accompanied by relevant professional experience.
- Three to five years’ professional experience in logistics or supply chain management with exposure to transportation or international trade deliveries.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience managing operational teams with international liaisons.
- Background in order management or customer service operations within export environments.
- Familiarity with process implementation tools/applications including change management practices and digital solutions for supply chain operations.
- Strong customer orientation coupled with proactive solution provision skills; critical thinking abilities highly valued.
- High proficiency in verbal and written English alongside excellent communication and presentation capabilities.
- Experience mentoring or managing teams with a focus on collaborative development.
- Knowledge of ERP systems in supply chain contexts; SAP or similar platforms preferred but not mandatory.
- Openness towards automation initiatives and digitalisation within export management processes.
