What you'll do:

• Drive strategic business development initiatives by leading sales efforts and acquiring new clients to significantly grow the air freight portfolio across Malaysia.
• Rebuild, mentor, and manage the local air freight department by hiring new talent, supporting team members’ growth, and structurally expanding headcount as needed.
• Oversee end-to-end operational workflows to ensure that all daily shipments are executed efficiently, accurately, and profitably from start to finish.
• Cultivate strong relationships with airlines, General Sales Agents (GSAs), warehouse operators, and other key partners to enhance service delivery and network reach.
• Maintain rigorous oversight of IATA compliance standards, payment cycles, and strict adherence to corporate governance policies.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to align operational strategies with broader business objectives and ensure seamless communication across departments.
• Monitor performance metrics regularly to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions that drive operational excellence.
• Support tender management processes by preparing proposals, negotiating terms, and securing new contracts that contribute to sustainable business growth.
• Champion a positive workplace culture by fostering open communication, inclusivity, and mutual support among team members.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to proactively adapt strategies that maintain competitiveness in the market.

What you bring:

• A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field is required for this position.
• At least five years of proven experience in both operational management and commercial roles within the air freight forwarding sector is essential.
• Demonstrated success in freight sales, tender management, and business development with established networks in local or regional air cargo ecosystems is highly valued.
• Experience managing teams through periods of change while maintaining stability and morale is crucial for this role.
• Professional proficiency in English is required; Mandarin language skills are additional advantages due to client portfolios managed regionally.
• A thorough understanding of IATA regulations along with practical experience ensuring compliance within air freight operations is necessary.
• Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to build trust-based relationships with vendors, partners, clients, and colleagues alike are important.
