What you'll do:
As a Production Planner, you will be instrumental in orchestrating the day-to-day execution of manufacturing plans. Your primary focus will be on preparing detailed schedules that reflect both customer demands and available resources. You will collaborate extensively with various internal teams—ranging from procurement through to logistics—to ensure every aspect of the supply chain is synchronised. By maintaining up-to-date data in ERP/MRP systems and analysing performance metrics, you will help drive improvements that benefit both the business and its customers. Your ability to communicate clearly about schedule adjustments will keep everyone informed and aligned. In this role, your proactive approach to problem-solving and your commitment to supporting lean manufacturing practices will be crucial for success.
- Develop and issue comprehensive production schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and current inventory levels to ensure optimal workflow.
- Coordinate effectively with procurement, inventory management, and manufacturing teams to confirm material availability and production capacity before scheduling.
- Monitor ongoing production progress closely and adjust schedules as needed in response to equipment breakdowns, material shortages, or changes in staffing.
- Collaborate with warehouse and logistics departments to guarantee that finished products are delivered punctually according to customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate records within ERP/MRP systems by updating work orders, lead times, and real-time production status information.
- Analyse key performance metrics such as on-time delivery rates, production efficiency, and order cycle times to identify areas for process improvement.
- Communicate any schedule changes or priority shifts clearly to production supervisors and all relevant departments to ensure alignment across teams.
- Participate actively in daily production meetings as well as cross-functional planning sessions to foster teamwork and shared understanding of objectives.
- Support lean manufacturing principles by contributing ideas for continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and reducing waste.

Your expertise in utilising ERP/MRP systems will allow you to maintain accurate records while adapting quickly when circumstances change. You possess strong interpersonal skills that enable you to build trust-based relationships across departments. Your analytical mindset helps you identify trends in performance data so you can suggest practical solutions for ongoing improvement. A deep understanding of how materials move through the production process means you can anticipate potential bottlenecks before they arise. - Excellent organisational skills help you manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.
- A thorough understanding of production processes, materials flow, and capacity planning supports effective decision-making throughout the supply chain.
