This role offers you the opportunity to shape product lines, drive sales, and optimise margins within a supportive and collaborative environment. You will be empowered to build strong relationships with suppliers, develop strategic product assortments, and ensure inventory health while contributing to the company’s growth objectives.

What you'll do:

As Merchandising Manager IT and Mobile, you will play a central role in shaping the direction of the IT & Mobile category within a prominent retail organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve developing strategic product assortments that respond dynamically to market trends while meeting consumer demands. You will negotiate with suppliers to secure favourable terms that boost both sales volume and profit margins. By conducting thorough promotional analyses, you will set pricing strategies that optimise campaign effectiveness. Managing stock levels in line with promotional activities ensures catalogues are always relevant to customer profiles. Regularly reviewing product performance allows you to maintain healthy inventory turnover while minimising aged stock. Success in this role requires close collaboration across departments as you work towards achieving key category targets. Your ability to analyse data, prioritise tasks efficiently, uphold ethical standards, and foster positive relationships will be essential for driving sustained growth within the IT & Mobile merchandise segment.

  • Develop comprehensive product assortment plans based on past performance data and observed market trends to ensure alignment with department strategy and consumer preferences.
  • Negotiate effectively with suppliers to expand the product range, maximise sales potential, enhance profit margins, and deliver within budget constraints.
  • Conduct detailed promotional analysis by measuring performance outcomes and setting optimal pricing levels for various campaigns.
  • Manage stock commitments and catalogue planning in accordance with agreed promotional activities and peak sales periods to fully leverage market opportunities.
  • Ensure catalogues consistently reflect customer profiles and present the correct mix of products to maximise market reach.
  • Monitor inventory health by reviewing product performance regularly, implementing strategies to reduce aged stock buckets, and ensuring efficient inventory turnover.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including buying, commercial, finance, and marketing to achieve category KPIs related to sales, margins, merchandising, and profitability.
  • Maintain high standards of business ethics and integrity while making decisions that impact category performance.
  • Utilise analytical skills to interpret sales figures accurately and make informed recommendations for future assortment planning.
  • Prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously by employing strong organisational skills and effective time management techniques.

What you bring:

In the Merchandising Manager IT and Mobile role, your extensive experience in retail buying will be invaluable as you navigate complex supplier negotiations and manage diverse product categories. Your educational background equips you with foundational knowledge necessary for success in retail operations. You bring a keen commercial awareness that enables accurate forecasting of market trends while informing strategic assortment planning. Your analytical prowess allows you to interpret sales data effectively so you can make recommendations that drive profitability. Interpersonal skills are crucial as you collaborate across departments—your ability to build trust-based relationships supports communal goals. A commitment to customer service ensures every decision is made with consumer satisfaction in mind. You excel under pressure thanks to your adaptability; your organisational skills help prioritise tasks efficiently even during peak periods. Upholding ethical standards is second nature as you contribute positively within an inclusive team environment.

  • Preferably possess a Diploma or Degree in Retail Management, Business or Accounting which provides a solid foundation for understanding retail operations.
  • Demonstrate at least 5 to 8 years of experience in retail buying with a proven track record of successful category management within IT & Mobile or similar sectors.
  • Show strong commercial acumen coupled with deep market understanding and forecasting abilities that inform strategic decision-making.

  • Possess outstanding interpersonal skills that enable relationship building across internal teams as well as external partners.
  • Show high levels of responsibility by confidently handling challenging situations under pressure while adapting quickly within a fast-paced environment.
