Key Account Manager (FMCG)

What you'll do:
As a Key Account Manager based in PJ, you will play an integral role in developing lasting relationships with key customers at both regional and store levels. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve negotiating new product listings, managing planograms and displays, executing promotions effectively, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful merchandising solutions. You will be responsible for communicating clear objectives in-store while monitoring the execution of critical performance indicators such as product availability, pricing strategies, promotion implementation, share of shelf presence, planogram adherence, and point-of-purchase placements. By conducting thorough pre-activity evaluations using analytical tools like what-if analysis—and following up with post-activity reviews—you will ensure that all initiatives are optimised for maximum effectiveness. Your ability to track compliance against agreed standards will help identify opportunities for improvement or highlight successes worth replicating. Additionally, you will support broader organisational goals by contributing insights into process enhancements that drive efficiency across customer development functions. Maintaining meticulous records of account activities will underpin your efforts to deliver transparent reporting on progress towards sales targets. - Develop and nurture collaborative partnerships with key customers at both store and regional levels to achieve sales targets and enhance product distribution.
- Conduct detailed negotiations regarding new product listings, planograms, displays, and promotional execution at regional or store level within Malaysia.
- Work closely with the Shopper Development team to create effective merchandising materials, tools, and in-store programmes that drive shopper engagement and shelf management.
- Clearly communicate in-store objectives while monitoring execution of 5P targets including product availability, assortment by store format, shelf pricing (regular and promoted), promotion implementation versus plan, share of shelf, planogram compliance, and POP placement.
- Monitor compliance of 5P activity execution against established agreements or objectives while tracking interim performance to identify shortfalls or potential upsides.
- Conduct rigorous pre-evaluation of 5P activities using what-if analysis and collaborate with other team resources such as Financial Services Managers or Customer Logistics Services Managers as needed.
- Perform post-evaluation analysis based on activity details; compare results with pre-evaluation findings and provide explanations for any differences observed.
- Strengthen organisational effectiveness by identifying areas for improvement in processes related to customer development and sales operations.
- Support the implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at increasing market share and profitability across key accounts.
- Maintain accurate records of account activities, performance metrics, and progress towards targets to ensure transparency and accountability.

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field is required for this position.
- At least five years’ experience in sales or customer management roles within FMCG or retail sectors is essential for success.
- Proven track record managing key accounts or distributors demonstrates your dependability in handling complex client relationships.
- Strong analytical skills enable you to conduct thorough evaluations of promotional activities using advanced techniques such as what-if analysis.
