The Robert Walters Group held its annual fundraising event on 12 October 2018. The KL office raised a total of RM11,000 for Pertubuhan Pusat Kebajikan Destiny, a welfare centre for refugee children, while the Penang Team spent the day at a children’s orphanage, Pusat Jagaan Sinar Ceria.

There were fund-raising activities which included “Be Late To office”, “Dress Down Fridays”, “Ditch Eating Out A Day”, “Bake the Make up For A Day”, “Be Victoria’s Secret Model For The Day”, “Guess the Babies of Robert Walters”, “Dutch Auction” and “Bake Sale” held from 1st Oct 2018 to 11th Oct 2018.

The much awaited Dutch Auction saw up to RM3,500 raised and we would like to thank our brand partners for supporting the event through the donation of vouchers and products:

In addition to fund raising activities, a donation drive was launched for books, groceries and household appliances/items based on needs identified with the welfare centre.

Beyond donations, the Robert Walters Malaysia team spent the day at the welfare centre with teams deployed to do painting and carpentry, cleaning, knowledge sharing and games with the children.

“Global Charity Day was an amazing opportunity for our staff members to use their unique talents, resources and time to help underprivileged children.  We wanted the children to know that despite their challenging circumstances, with the right education, perseverance and support, they can build good futures for themselves,” said Kimberlyn Lu, country manager of Robert Walters Malaysia.

Pertubuhan Pusat Kebajikan Destiny

Pertubuhan Pusat Kebajikan Destiny is a refugee day care centre that houses mainly Myanmar refugee children. The charity provides day care support and pre-school education, giving them the opportunity to receive early education as they are not eligible to enrol into any schools in Malaysia. This support also enables the refugee parents, especially mothers, to be able to work to supplement the income of the family. The Centre believes in empowerment through a heart of love by sharing, caring, loving, building, teaching and character building in education and healthy living.
