What you'll do:

As an Assistant Brand Manager for the Pet Care category based in Kuala Lumpur, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of pet care brands across Malaysia and Singapore. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve supporting the Marketing Manager in executing integrated strategies that drive business growth while staying attuned to consumer needs. You will coordinate multifaceted marketing campaigns that span digital platforms, retail environments, trade promotions, and new product launches. By tracking key performance metrics such as sales figures, market share, ROI, and brand health indicators, you will provide valuable insights that inform decision-making at every level. Collaboration is central to this role; you will work closely with Sales, Trade Marketing, Supply Chain, Product Development teams as well as external partners to ensure flawless execution of brand initiatives from conception through launch. Your involvement in volume forecasting and demand planning will help mitigate supply gaps while supporting accurate inventory management. Engaging directly with consumers through store visits and research projects will allow you to uncover actionable insights that drive innovation within the pet care category. Success in this role requires a blend of analytical acumen, interpersonal skills, project management expertise, and a genuine passion for connecting with people, both within the organisation and throughout the wider pet care community.

  • Assist in developing and executing integrated marketing plans for pet care categories such as pet food, grooming, and hygiene, ensuring alignment with brand positioning and business objectives.
  • Coordinate comprehensive 360° marketing campaigns including digital initiatives, in-store activations, trade promotions, and new product launches to maximise brand visibility.
  • Manage planning for new product developments (NPDs), licensing applications, and stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Track sales performance, market share, promotional return on investment (ROI), and brand health indicators on a weekly or monthly basis to inform strategic decisions.
  • Prepare regular reports with actionable insights for internal review by collaborating with data analytics teams to deepen understanding of brand and channel performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Trade Marketing, Supply Chain, and Product Development teams to ensure seamless end-to-end execution of brand initiatives.
  • Align promotional volume forecasts, inventory planning, and in-store activities with relevant departments to optimise demand planning.
  • Support product lifecycle planning by managing timelines for new SKU launches and coordinating importation processes including regulatory documentation.
  • Partner with Consumer Insight teams or agencies to design research projects such as surveys or focus groups targeting pet owners’ purchasing behaviour.
  • Conduct regular store visits and engage directly with pet shop owners, grooming centres, and end consumers to identify market opportunities for product or communication improvements.

What you bring:

To excel as an Assistant Brand Manager, you will bring a solid educational foundation paired with hands-on experience in brand management or marketing within fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), pet care or healthcare industries. Your deep understanding of consumer behaviour, especially among pet owners and retail dynamics enables you to craft strategies that resonate authentically. Analytical prowess is vital; your ability to interpret sales data using tools like Excel or PowerPoint allows you to generate actionable insights that drive performance improvements. Communication is at the core of this role: your capacity for clear presentation combined with collaborative skills ensures alignment across diverse teams from Sales to Supply Chain. Computer literacy is expected; familiarity with digital channels enhances your effectiveness but is not strictly required. Managing multiple projects efficiently while balancing timelines demonstrates your organisational strength. Fluency in English supports seamless interaction both internally within the company structure as well as externally during fieldwork engagements. Your willingness to connect directly with consumers through store visits reflects a proactive attitude towards market engagement. • Deep consumer orientation with proven understanding of pet owner behaviour and retail dynamics will set you apart.
  • Strong analytical skills demonstrated by proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, marketing dashboards as well as interpreting sales data are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with collaborative abilities enable you to present ideas clearly across all levels of the organisation.
  • High computer literacy including familiarity with MS Office; experience with social media & digital marketing is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining timelines and stakeholder expectations is crucial for success.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English ensures effective communication internally and externally.
