What you'll do:
As a Public Relations and Communications Manager based in Kuala Lumpur, you will immerse yourself in every aspect of communications for a high-profile trade show. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop targeted PR strategies that align with event goals. You will craft engaging content—ranging from press releases to exhibitor stories—and coordinate all facets of media engagement from pre-event outreach through on-site support. By working hand-in-hand with creative designers on branding materials and ensuring consistent messaging across all channels—including social media—you will help shape how the event is perceived by attendees and the wider public. After each event concludes, your analytical skills will come into play as you compile comprehensive reports on media coverage. Success in this role means being proactive in building relationships with journalists, staying attuned to industry developments, and always striving for excellence in storytelling.
- Develop comprehensive public relations strategies tailored specifically to each assigned trade show, ensuring alignment with overall event objectives and audience needs.
- Draft compelling press releases, detailed media advisories, engaging exhibitor stories, and captivating event highlights that capture attention across traditional and digital platforms.
- Coordinate all aspects of press conferences including logistics planning, speaker preparation, media walkabouts, and real-time show-day coverage to maximise positive exposure.
- Manage media invitations by maintaining accurate lists, overseeing registration processes, and providing on-site support to journalists for seamless event experiences.
- Work collaboratively with designers to create visually appealing branding materials such as banners, e-flyers, press kits, and other collateral that reinforce the event’s identity.
- Ensure consistency in messaging by maintaining a unified brand voice across all communication channels including social media platforms, the official show website, email newsletters, and more.
- Produce thorough post-event public relations reports featuring detailed analysis of media coverage to inform future strategy development.
- Foster strong relationships with key media contacts to enhance coverage opportunities before, during, and after each event.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities for positive publicity or areas requiring strategic adjustment.
- Support crisis communication efforts by preparing statements or responses as needed to protect the reputation of the event.

- Proven ability to coordinate complex press conferences or similar events involving multiple stakeholders while maintaining attention to detail under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills allowing you to build rapport quickly with journalists as well as internal colleagues from marketing or sales teams.
- Experience managing branding projects alongside designers resulting in cohesive visual identities across print and digital assets.
- A track record of maintaining consistent messaging across diverse channels such as social media accounts (Facebook/Instagram/LinkedIn), websites, email newsletters etc., ensuring brand integrity at all times.
- Analytical mindset capable of producing insightful post-event reports that evaluate media coverage effectiveness against set objectives.
- Familiarity with monitoring industry trends so you can proactively suggest improvements or capitalise on emerging publicity opportunities.
- Ability to respond sensitively during crisis situations by preparing appropriate statements or handling challenging queries from the press.
