AVP, Legal Specialist (Contract/Procurement)

What you'll do:

As a Contract and Procurement Legal Specialist, you will play an instrumental role in driving excellence across all aspects of contract management and procurement advisory. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with business units to draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of transactional documents while ensuring that every agreement aligns with both organisational goals and regulatory expectations.

• Implement comprehensive end-to-end procurement arrangements with vendors, ensuring all processes align with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Draft, negotiate, and finalise contracts with suppliers using established templates and key terms tailored to meet specific business needs.
• Review contracts and related documentation meticulously to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal policies as well as external regulations.
• Advise business teams on contract terms, potential risks, and impacts, providing clear guidance to facilitate informed decision-making across departments.
• Manage post-contract governance by maintaining thorough documentation of contract management processes and templates in line with audit readiness standards.
• Ensure all contract management activities adhere strictly to regulatory norms while proactively identifying areas for process enhancement or risk mitigation.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver strategic solutions that address complex legal challenges within the corporate services function.
• Provide expertise in handling IT contracts as an added advantage, supporting digital transformation initiatives within the organisation.
• Support ongoing improvement initiatives by contributing insights into best practices for procurement/outsourcing processes and legal documentation.
• Foster a culture of knowledge sharing by mentoring junior team members and promoting effective communication throughout the procurement lifecycle.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Contract and Procurement Legal Specialist position brings extensive experience navigating complex corporate law environments while managing large-scale procurement portfolios.

• Hold a degree in law and are qualified as an advocate and solicitor in Malaysia, demonstrating a solid foundation in corporate legal practice.
• Possess at least 6 years proven experience in corporate law with hands-on responsibility for managing procurement portfolios at leadership or mid-managerial levels.
• Demonstrate advanced analytical skills with a strategic mindset for solving complex legal issues related to contracts and procurement activities.
• Showcase substantial experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating procurement contracts—including IT agreements—and familiarity with end-to-end procurement or outsourcing processes is highly regarded.
• Exhibit strong ability to identify legal risks proactively while continuously reviewing and enhancing documentation as well as operational processes.
• Display excellent communication abilities coupled with outstanding interpersonal skills that foster trust-based relationships across diverse teams.
