Associate Counsel, Legal (G35)

We are seeking a commercially minded legal professional to partner closely with Procurement, Finance, and Operations teams across a global business. This role provides strategic legal support on a wide range of commercial and procurement matters, helping drive business objectives while managing legal and regulatory risk.

You will play a key role in structuring, negotiating, and advising on complex commercial arrangements, while acting as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across multiple markets and functions.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Procurement Legal Support

• Serve as legal counsel to the Operations function, supporting procurement activities, supplier engagements, and strategic business initiatives.
• Structure, negotiate, draft, and advise on a broad range of commercial agreements, including:
• Procurement and supplier contracts
• Services agreements
• Manufacturing and supply agreements
• Development and technology-related agreements
• Provide practical, business-focused legal advice to support commercial decision-making.

Risk Management & Governance

• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks across commercial transactions and operational arrangements.
• Advise on matters relating to:
• Intellectual Property
• Data Privacy & Protection
• Competition & Antitrust
• Tax considerations
• Regulatory Compliance
• Support dispute management, contract interpretation, renewals, and termination strategies.
• Ensure alignment with internal policies, governance frameworks, and approval processes.

Stakeholder Partnership

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, Procurement, Finance, and cross-functional teams.
• Support leadership and governance forums through clear legal analysis and recommendations.
• Foster strong collaboration between Legal and business stakeholders to enable informed risk-taking and commercial growth.
• Partner with legal colleagues across different regions and functions on cross-border matters and business priorities.

What We're Looking For

Experience & Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer (Malaysia, UK, or equivalent jurisdiction).
• Approximately 5+ years of post-qualification experience, gained in leading law firms and/or multinational corporate environments. Candidate who are equipped with both private practice and in-house legal work experience will be viewed favorably
• Proven experience advising on complex commercial transactions and high-value contracts across multiple jurisdictions.

Technical Expertise

• Strong background in commercial and contract law.
• Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills.
• Experience navigating cross-border legal, compliance, and regulatory issues.
• Strong understanding of contract lifecycle management and risk mitigation.
