Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Manager/Head of Legal to provide strategic, high-quality, and cost-effective legal services that will support their operations and growth. This full-time position is based in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the company's legal affairs, providing regulatory, corporate, and commercial advice, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.

What you'll do:

As the Senior Manager/Head of Legal, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing all aspects of the company's legal affairs. You will draft and review various legal instruments while providing valuable advice on regulatory matters. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that the company operates within the confines of relevant laws and regulations.

• Oversee and manage the company's legal affairs
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, commercial agreements, and other legal instruments
• Provide regulatory, corporate, and commercial advice to support strategic initiatives and investments
• Ensure the company operates in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies
• Identify and mitigate legal risks while advising on appropriate risk management strategies
• Lead, mentor, and support the legal team to ensure efficient delivery of legal services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide legal guidance and support
• Draft, review, and archive legal documents such as contracts, agreements, and corporate resolutions
• Ensure accurate record-keeping for regulatory filings, board meeting minutes, and compliance documents

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Senior Manager/Head of Legal role brings extensive experience from either a commercial law firm or an in-house team within a large or complex organisation. With your substantial knowledge in commercial legal practices, you will be adept at managing contracts, overseeing mergers and acquisitions, structuring corporations, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Your ability to provide pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice will be invaluable to both operational staff and senior stakeholders. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are essential for building trusted relationships.

• 8+ years of post-qualification experience in a commercial law firm or an in-house legal team of a large or complex organisation
• Substantial experience in a wide range of commercial legal practices including contract management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring, and regulatory compliance
• Proven ability to provide pragmatic, high-quality, commercially focused legal advice to both operational staff and senior stakeholders
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and develop a team of legal professionals
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Familiarity with the Malaysian legal landscape particularly in areas relevant to the company's operations
