Legal Counsel (Global Banking & CFS)

We are looking for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal support to our Global Banking, Commercial Banking, SME Banking, Retail Banking and Corporate Functions businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide timely, practical and risk-based legal advice to business and support functions.
• Draft, review and negotiate financing, security and commercial documentation, including letters of offer, loan agreements, undertakings and contracts.
• Advise on financing structures, security arrangements and perfection requirements across Corporate, Commercial, SME and Retail Banking.
• Support strategic initiatives, new products and business growth projects by identifying and managing legal risks.
• Review Board and management papers, internal policies and legal memoranda.
• Liaise with external solicitors, regulators and internal stakeholders to ensure effective legal support and governance.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or equivalent recognised legal qualification.
• Admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya (or equivalent).
• Min. 6 to 10 years' post-qualification experience in Banking & Finance, gained from a reputable law firm and/or financial institution.
• Strong experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating financing and security documentation.
• Sound knowledge of Corporate Banking, SME Financing, Retail Financing and commercial contracts.
• Strong analytical, drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to provide practical legal solutions while balancing legal risk and business objectives.
