Data Protection Officer, Banking Group

Save job

A leading bank committed to the highest standards of data integrity and governance, is seeking a Data Protection Officer (DPO) to lead its data privacy and protection agenda. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for ensuring enterprise-wide compliance with local and international data protection regulations, while building a strong data governance culture across the bank.

What you'll do:
As the Data Privacy Officer, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all data protection matters, including engagement with regulatory bodies, internal stakeholders, and customers. This role provides the platform to drive real impact, embedding privacy-by-design principles into digital innovation, risk management, and third-party ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure enterprise adherence to PDPA, GDPR, and other applicable data protection and banking secrecy laws. Lead the implementation of privacy policies, standards, and controls across the organisation.

• Advise senior leadership and business units on privacy obligations, data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), and vendor data handling. Embed privacy into product and process design.

• Champion privacy culture by developing and delivering training across all levels. Foster accountability and awareness through continuous education.

• Lead investigations and responses to data breaches or potential privacy incidents. Coordinate breach notifications with regulators and affected parties where required.

• Oversee internal audits and compliance reviews. Prepare privacy reports and ensure effective communication with relevant authorities and management committees.

• Evaluate and mitigate data privacy risks across vendor and partner ecosystems. Ensure data processing agreements are robust and regulatory compliant.

• Act as the key liaison with supervisory authorities, responding to inquiries, audits, or complaints. Manage internal and external stakeholder communication with transparency and efficiency.

What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the DPO role brings a strong blend of regulatory knowledge, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management capabilities. With a track record of implementing enterprise-wide privacy frameworks, you balance risk management with business enablement, and foster a culture of accountability and trust across the organisation.

Key Requirements:
• Proven experience in a senior data privacy, compliance, or legal role within financial services or highly regulated industries.

• Strong knowledge of data protection frameworks (e.g., PDPA, GDPR) and regulatory expectations in the banking sector.

• Demonstrated ability to engage with regulators, boards, and cross-functional business teams.

• Expertise in developing privacy policies, conducting DPIAs, managing breach response, and working with third-party vendors.

• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

What sets this company apart:
This is a well-established banking group known for its integrity, client-centric approach, and industry leadership. With a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, digitalisation, and sustainability, the organisation fosters an inclusive culture rooted in core values. It actively invests in professional development, leadership growth, and performance excellence across all levels.
