Legal Counsel (Debt Capital Markets)

One of the leading financial institutions is looking for a high calibre debt capital markets Legal Counsel to join the investment banking legal team based in Kuala Lumpur.

Reporting to the Head, Legal, you will be responsible in providing world-class functional banking legal services to the bank’s legal and corporate functions as well as be involved in interactions with all levels of management.

What you'll do:

As a Legal Counsel, your primary responsibility will be providing world-class functional banking legal services specially focused in debt capital markets with exposures to equity commodity derrivatives and/or stockbroking.

The primary responsibilities are:

• Render sound, effective and practical legal solutions, and advice to stakeholders in relation to the full spectrum of debt products and services offered including bonds and sukuk, debt and project advisory, fixed income syndication, structured solutions, hybrid solutions, loan syndication, leverage finance and agency services.
• Draft, review and negotiate documents and agreements independently/with minimal supervision.
• Provide legal support in the development of new products and offerings within Malaysia and other jurisdictions where the Bank is present.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
• Identify issues and legal risks and provide proactive solutions.
• Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes affecting the Bank’s operations.

What you bring:

The successful candidate for this Legal Counsel position must have a minimum of 5 - 8 years PQE with experience in debt capital market transactions.

You must also possess the following:

• Minimum 5 - 8 years PQE with experience in debt capital market transactions
• Banking & finance exposure is a pre-requisite
• Experience with ISDA documentation is an added advantage
• Experience in corporate laws and drafting and negotiation of agreements and contracts
