Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Manager Learning and Development to join a forward-thinking organisation based in Kuala Lumpur. * Play a key role in shaping the organisation’s learning strategy by partnering with leaders to identify current and future training needs, ensuring all programmes are aligned with business objectives and talent priorities. * Enjoy flexible working opportunities within a collaborative team environment that values knowledge sharing, professional development, and continuous improvement in learning methodologies. * Be empowered to introduce new approaches such as blended learning and microlearning while supporting succession planning, talent development, and organisational growth through innovative L&D initiatives.

What you'll do:

As Assistant Manager Learning and Development, you will play a central role in shaping how employees grow within the organisation.

  • Partner with various departments and business leaders to thoroughly identify both current and emerging training needs that align with organisational goals.
  • Conduct comprehensive Training Needs Analysis (TNA) using performance data, employee feedback, and business insights to inform the design of effective learning interventions.
  • Design and structure the annual learning and development plan so it aligns seamlessly with broader organisational objectives and talent strategies.
  • Develop, curate, and update engaging learning content, programmes, and curricula—including both in-house developed modules and outsourced solutions—to address diverse learner requirements.
  • Support succession planning efforts by integrating tailored learning strategies into Individual Development Plans for employees at different levels of the organisation.
  • Collaborate closely with the Learning and Development execution team to ensure that all programmes are delivered according to their intended design, maintaining high standards of quality and relevance.
  • Stay abreast of evolving trends in adult education by researching new methodologies such as blended learning or microlearning, proposing these innovations to enhance the effectiveness of existing programmes.
  • Work alongside HR colleagues to ensure that all learning initiatives support performance improvement objectives as well as long-term organisational growth.
  • Monitor the implementation of learning programmes by gathering feedback from participants and stakeholders, using this information to refine future offerings.
  • Prepare detailed reports on programme outcomes, providing leadership with clear visibility into progress against key performance indicators.

What you bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration or a related field provides you with a strong academic foundation for this role.
  • At least five years’ experience in Learning & Development or Human Resources roles where you have been exposed to training design, coordination, evaluation, or similar responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct robust Training Needs Analysis (TNA) using multiple sources such as performance data, employee feedback, or business insights.
  • Experience developing structured annual L&D plans that align with wider organisational objectives is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in creating engaging content for various audiences—whether through in-house development or by curating external resources—is essential for success.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or digital learning platforms is considered an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with strategic thinking enable you to translate complex data into actionable insights for programme improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills allow you to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • A detail-oriented approach ensures accuracy when designing curricula or monitoring programme outcomes while maintaining alignment with process requirements.
