What you'll do:

As General Manager, People you will be entrusted with overseeing the full spectrum of the People function within the organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve partnering with senior leaders to develop forward-thinking strategies that nurture talent, drive engagement, and support business objectives. Ultimately, your efforts will help create an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and motivated to achieve shared goals.

  • Serve as a trusted business partner to senior management and people managers, fostering an environment that encourages performance, collaboration, and mutual respect.
  • Formulate, review, and establish pragmatic people practices, policies, procedures, standards, and systems that align with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Evaluate and analyse current workforce climate and operational systems to inform data-driven decisions for ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Design integrated people initiatives across functions such as Talent Acquisition, Development, Rewards, Employee Relations, and Industrial Relations to enable business growth.
  • Coach both your team and people managers throughout the organisation to enhance their people management capabilities using effective change management approaches.
  • Strategise and advocate for continuous improvement programmes that promote agility within both the workforce and supporting systems.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments to ensure seamless implementation of people-focused projects that drive engagement and productivity.
  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing initiatives that contribute to a positive workplace culture.

What you bring:

To excel as the General Manager, People you will bring substantial experience managing comprehensive HR operations within complex organisations, ideally those operating in manufacturing or related sectors. Your background should reflect deep familiarity with employment law alongside practical expertise in developing policies that balance compliance with employee wellbeing.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Human Resource Management or Business Administration is required for this role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the full spectrum of HR functions within manufacturing or heavy industry environments is highly desirable.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HR best practices as well as up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and industrial relations is essential.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are needed to build strong relationships at all organisational levels while maintaining sensitivity towards diverse perspectives.
  • Excellent communication abilities are vital for articulating complex ideas clearly across various audiences within the business.
  • A proven track record of implementing innovative HR initiatives that drive continuous improvement is expected from candidates applying for this position.
