A leading global medical device organisation is seeking a Total Rewards Senior Specialist to join their Penang team.

This role offers you the opportunity to shape and deliver compensation and benefits strategies that directly support business objectives across APAC. You will be empowered to research, develop, and implement policies that ensure the company remains competitive, compliant, and responsive to employee needs. The organisation values your expertise in both manufacturing and commercial environments, providing a platform for you to influence key decisions and drive impactful projects. With flexible working arrangements, ongoing training opportunities, and a supportive network of professionals, this position is ideal for someone who thrives in a matrixed environment and is passionate about making a difference in employee experience.

  • You will have the chance to lead compensation and benefits initiatives that impact thousands of employees across APAC, ensuring alignment with business goals and market practices.
  • The organisation offers flexible working opportunities, generous pension contributions, and access to continuous professional development through training programmes.
  • You will work within an inclusive culture where your dependability, attention to detail, and collaborative approach are highly valued by supportive leadership.

What you'll do:

As a Total Rewards Senior Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s approach to employee rewards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve evaluating current programmes through rigorous research and analysis of market trends. You will use your expertise in job evaluation processes to prepare market data analyses that inform pay structures and variable compensation assignments. By advising HR teams and management on best practices in compensation and benefits administration, you will help foster an environment of transparency and compliance. You will also represent Total Rewards on key projects—collaborating with various departments to implement new initiatives—and review statutory requirements to ensure the company remains ahead of regulatory changes. Your ability to respond quickly to escalated issues with empathy will be crucial in maintaining stakeholder trust. Additionally, you will oversee diverse reward programmes ranging from health benefits to executive compensation while supporting both manufacturing plants and commercial business units. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools will enable you to deliver accurate reports and engaging presentations that drive informed decision-making.

  • Conduct comprehensive research, surveys, and analysis of compensation and benefit trends as well as vendor management to evaluate the company’s competitive position in relation to its strategic objectives.
  • Utilise job evaluation processes to determine job requirements and prepare detailed market data analyses for compensation programme assignments including pay structures, variable pay, and equity.
  • Advise, educate, and coach Human Resources teams and management on compensation and benefit programmes, systems, and best practices to foster understanding and compliance.
  • Represent Total Rewards or serve as project manager on specified initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation.
  • Review existing and proposed statutory requirements governing compensation and benefit administration; recommend appropriate courses of action based on regulatory changes.
  • Respond promptly to resolve a variety of escalated compensation and benefits issues with sensitivity to stakeholder needs.
  • Oversee health and welfare programmes, capital accumulation plans, sales compensation schemes, executive compensation packages, base pay structures, and incentive plan administration.
  • Support both manufacturing plant populations and commercial business units by tailoring rewards solutions that address unique operational challenges.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail in data analysis and reporting while ensuring accuracy in all aspects of compensation management.
  • Leverage advanced Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel and PowerPoint) for data analysis, presentation creation, and stakeholder communication.

What you bring:

Your proven track record as a Total Rewards Senior Specialist will demonstrate your deep understanding of compensation strategies within multinational corporations. You bring extensive experience managing complex reward programmes—from salary benchmarking through annual cycles—while navigating regulatory landscapes across APAC. Your ability to analyse large datasets with precision allows you to provide valuable insights that inform business decisions. You are known for your meticulous attention to detail which ensures accuracy in every report or recommendation you produce. Your strong customer orientation means stakeholders can depend on your timely responses when issues arise. Organisational excellence enables you to manage multiple priorities efficiently within a fast-paced matrixed structure. Communication is one of your strengths; whether presenting findings or coaching HR teams on best practices, you build trust through clarity. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools supports your analytical work while familiarity with HRIS platforms like SAP SuccessFactors enhances your effectiveness. Your collaborative spirit shines when supporting both manufacturing operations & commercial teams—making you an indispensable part of the organisation’s growth journey.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification is required for this role along with at least 8–10 years of progressive experience in Total Rewards within a multinational corporation environment.
  • Expertise in compensation and benefits including salary benchmarking, job evaluation methodologies, annual compensation cycles management, and benefits administration is essential.
  • Experience supporting both manufacturing plant populations as well as commercial business units demonstrates your versatility across different operational contexts.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Total Rewards principles coupled with knowledge of market practices and regulatory requirements throughout the APAC region is vital.
  • Excellent knowledge of current labour laws and regulations within APAC ensures compliance across all reward programmes.
  • Advanced analytical skills allow you to interpret large volumes of data accurately while providing actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Meticulous attention to detail combined with high accuracy in data analysis ensures reliable reporting outcomes.
  • Strong customer orientation paired with a sense of urgency enables you to respond effectively to stakeholder needs.
  • Exceptional organisational skills facilitate planning and prioritisation amidst competing demands within a matrixed environment.
  • Outstanding communication abilities—including presentation skills—support effective stakeholder management across all levels of the organisation.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (particularly advanced Excel & PowerPoint) is necessary for data manipulation & presentation creation; experience with SAP SuccessFactors or other HRIS platforms is an added advantage.
