Product Development Manager

A leading organisation in the nutraceutical and consumer healthcare sector is seeking a Product Development Manager, Nutraceuticals, to join their team in Kuala Lumpur. What you'll do:

As Product Development Manager Nutraceuticals based in Kuala Lumpur, you will play a pivotal role in driving the creation of innovative health solutions. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve overseeing multidisciplinary teams as they develop new products from initial concept through to market launch. You’ll be responsible for managing budgets and resources effectively while ensuring that each project meets rigorous quality standards and regulatory requirements. By collaborating with various departments such as Regulatory Affairs, QA/QC, Supply Chain, Marketing, Procurement and external partners like contract manufacturers and suppliers regionally, you’ll ensure smooth progression through every phase of the product lifecycle. Your ability to provide technical guidance on strategy and innovation will be crucial in optimising portfolios and maintaining competitiveness. Success in this role requires not only deep industry knowledge but also strong interpersonal skills that foster teamwork and shared achievement.

• You will lead the Product Development function supporting Consumer Healthcare businesses, ensuring all projects align with strategic objectives and deliver value.
• You will manage departmental budgets, oversee product portfolios, prioritise projects, allocate resources efficiently, and maintain a robust product pipeline.
• You will handle end-to-end product development processes including concept feasibility studies, formulation development, sourcing strategies, regulatory support, commercialisation activities, and lifecycle management.
• You will conduct technical due diligence for supplier and contract manufacturing organisation qualification, oversee product recalls, CAPA investigations, change controls, stability programmes, and raw material replacement initiatives.
• You will collaborate closely with Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance/Quality Control teams, Supply Chain Management, Marketing departments, Procurement professionals, and contract manufacturers throughout the entire product lifecycle.
• You will provide expert technical advice on product strategy, innovation pathways, regulatory compliance options, and portfolio optimisation to ensure competitive advantage.
• You will offer Product Development and technical support across the Group’s businesses while coordinating with regional suppliers and contract manufacturers for seamless operations.
• You will ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare, and nutraceutical products by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards.
• You will perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your superior from time to time to support organisational goals.
• You will foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing within your team to promote continuous improvement.

What you bring:

In the role of Product Development Manager Nutraceuticals you bring extensive experience gained over at least eight years within consumer healthcare or nutraceutical industries. Your background includes managing cross-functional teams where collaboration was key to achieving successful outcomes. You possess deep technical expertise in formulation development as well as comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks governing pharmaceuticals and health supplements. Your project management capabilities enable you to plan portfolios strategically while allocating resources efficiently. You have demonstrated skill in qualifying suppliers or CMOs through rigorous technical due diligence processes. Your familiarity with quality systems such as CAPA alongside change control procedures ensures that products meet stringent safety standards throughout their lifecycle. Financially astute decisions regarding costing and budgeting are second nature thanks to your strong commercial evaluation skills. Academic credentials in Food Science or related disciplines further reinforce your suitability for this position. • Your experience in supplier or CMO qualification as well as technical due diligence supports robust partnerships with external stakeholders.
• Your expertise in technology transfer processes ensures seamless integration between research teams and manufacturing partners.
• Your knowledge of stability studies, quality systems (including CAPA), change control procedures and product investigations guarantees high standards of safety and efficacy.
• Your financial acumen in product costing, budgeting and commercial evaluation helps drive sustainable business decisions.
• Your minimum 8-10 years’ relevant Product Development experience in consumer healthcare or nutraceutical industries provides valuable insights into best practices.
• Your Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Biotechnology, Dietetics or related scientific discipline underpins your technical expertise.
• Your professional fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia facilitates effective communication across diverse teams
