An esteemed global healthcare organisation is seeking a Professional Education Consultant in Ophthalmology to join the team. This role offers the opportunity to shape and deliver impactful educational programmes for healthcare professionals, registrars, and sales teams within the ophthalmology sector. You will play a central part in advancing clinical knowledge, supporting faculty development, and ensuring compliance with standards.

What you'll do:

As a Professional Education Consultant in Ophthalmology based in Petaling Jaya, you will be entrusted with orchestrating high-impact educational initiatives that empower healthcare professionals at every stage of their careers. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve developing robust curricula tailored to intraocular lens (IOL) education, overseeing registrar training programmes that build technical confidence, and crafting comprehensive sales team learning strategies. You will collaborate closely with faculty members, providing guidance and support to ensure they are equipped for present demands while also preparing them for future advancements. By managing budgets, resources, and compliance processes meticulously, you will guarantee that all educational activities meet rigorous standards. Additionally, your expertise will be instrumental in leveraging digital platforms to expand the reach of these programmes throughout Southeast Asia. Success in this role means not only achieving participation targets but also delivering measurable improvements in knowledge transfer, participant satisfaction, and overall programme effectiveness.

  • Manage the curriculum for healthcare professional intraocular lens (IOL) education, aligning content with annual business objectives while ensuring resources are available for both local and symposium-based learning initiatives.
  • Oversee the allocation of education grants within the professional education budget, maintaining strict adherence to compliance requirements and organisational goals.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure IOL education targets are met efficiently, implementing action plans for ongoing improvement as needed.
  • Support and nurture faculty members to address current needs while preparing them for future challenges within the ophthalmology education landscape.
  • Ensure all aspects of professional education activities comply with relevant health care compliance (HCC) standards.
  • Supervise registrar education programmes focused on lens technology science and confidence-building in Toric/PCIOL/Phaco procedures at teaching facilities.
  • Manage consumable and capital equipment necessary for effective training delivery, optimising resource utilisation to support educational objectives.
  • Design and implement an annual sales team education strategy in partnership with regional training teams, utilising both face-to-face and virtual channels to achieve knowledge benchmarks.
  • Define certification protocols for sales teams, regularly communicating progress to leadership and ensuring minimum standards are consistently enforced.
  • Oversee the use of digital learning platforms such as EyeLearn (Axonify) and EyeConnect University across Southeast Asia, addressing any deviations from expectations promptly.

What you bring:

In this Professional Education Consultant in Ophthalmology position, your background should reflect substantial experience developing impactful training solutions within the healthcare sector—ideally focusing on ophthalmology or related medical device fields. Your proven ability to create curricula that balance strategic business goals with regulatory compliance will be essential. You bring a history of successfully tracking performance metrics and driving continuous enhancements across multiple educational streams. Your approach is grounded in empathy; you excel at nurturing faculty talent through supportive coaching methods while fostering strong connections across multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with advanced medical technologies at the registrar level is highly valued. Your financial acumen ensures optimal use of resources without compromising quality or compliance. Leveraging digital tools comes naturally to you; you are adept at integrating online modules into broader learning strategies. Above all else, your clear communication style enables you to keep stakeholders informed while building consensus around shared objectives.

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and managing educational programmes within the healthcare or life sciences sector, particularly related to ophthalmology or medical devices.
  • Proven ability to develop curricula that align with business priorities while meeting compliance requirements and supporting diverse learner needs.
  • Strong track record of monitoring KPIs and implementing continuous improvement strategies within an educational context.
  • Experience supporting faculty development through coaching, mentoring, or structured training initiatives.
  • Comprehensive understanding of health care compliance (HCC) regulations as they pertain to professional education activities.
  • Familiarity with registrar-level training programmes focused on advanced medical technologies such as intraocular lenses or phacoemulsification procedures.
  • Ability to manage budgets effectively while optimising resource allocation for maximum impact on educational outcomes.
  • Expertise in designing blended learning solutions that incorporate both face-to-face instruction and digital platforms such as EyeLearn or EyeConnect University.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, medical affairs, and external partners.
  • Outstanding communication abilities for reporting progress against certification protocols and engaging leadership stakeholders.
