Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to oversee their retail operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive business expansion, implement sales strategies, and ensure retail excellence. What you'll do:

As an Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our client's retail operations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that sales targets are met while keeping operating expenses to a minimum. You will work closely with area managers and senior management to optimise store operations, staffing, and merchandising. Your ability to identify new store opening opportunities will be crucial in driving business expansion. You will also attend company management meetings, providing valuable input and recommendations for growing market share. Your role will involve managing operating costs effectively while providing accurate forecasts and budgets. As an Operations Manager, your strategic thinking combined with your hands-on approach to implementation will be key in driving the success of the business.

  • Oversee the operations of retail stores, ensuring sales targets and profitability are achieved while minimising operating expenses.
  • Promote retail excellence by resolving retail needs promptly and taking immediate follow-up actions.
  • Work closely with area managers and senior management on store operations, staffing, and merchandising, providing improvement solutions where necessary.
  • Elevate the operations team through guidance and regular coaching, motivating retail staff to ensure continuous development and high morale.
  • Develop strategies on operational processes for continuous improvement.
  • Identify new outlet/store opening opportunities to drive business expansion.
  • Attend company management meetings, consolidate meeting reports and agendas, provide recommendations for growing market share.
  • Provide monthly reports on operations, financial performance, and competitive analysis of the retail market.
  • Manage operating costs and resources effectively, providing forecasts and budgeting.
  • Be accountable for setting sales targets based on market opportunities.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Operations Manager role will bring a wealth of experience from the optical retail industry. With at least 5 years of experience in a managerial position, you will have developed strong analytical skills and a detail-oriented approach to your work. Your excellent people management abilities will be complemented by your motivation and decision-making skills. You will have demonstrated your ability to manage multiple projects effectively, even in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Your independent, resourceful, performance-orientated, and service-oriented nature will enable you to interact effectively with all levels of people. Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is essential, as is proficiency in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.

  • Possess a recognised Diploma or Degree in the relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in the optical retail industry in a managerial position.
  • Strategic yet detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Strong people management abilities with excellent motivation and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with proficiency in proposal development and problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities within tight deadlines.
  • Independent, resourceful, performance-orientated, self-motivated, service-oriented with an ability to interact with all levels of people.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia; proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin is an added advantage.
