Quality Assurance Manager

Our client is a start-up company in Penang, on the hunt for an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Manager in their greenfield plant.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated quality team, ensuring that products meet internal specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to maintain high-quality outputs and drive continuous improvement on the shop floor.

What you'll do:

As a Quality Assurance Manager, your primary role will be to oversee the entire spectrum of quality assurance within an assembly manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for monitoring assembly line processes, conducting in-process inspections, developing key quality documentation, managing non-conformance reports, coordinating with suppliers on incoming material quality, among other tasks. Your expertise in ISO 9001 standards, lean manufacturing principles, and assembly process control will be crucial in driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.

  • Monitor and inspect assembly line processes to identify potential issues, non-conformances, and areas for improvement.
  • Oversee in-process, final product inspections, and functional testing to ensure components meet quality criteria.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) to support consistent assembly processes and product standards.
  • Develop and maintain the company’s Quality Control Plan (QCP) in accordance with industry standards, regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
  • Lead and coordinate internal audits, customer audits, and third-party certifications (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Implement and track Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for defects or quality failures.
  • Work with engineering and production teams to analyse root causes of failures and apply process improvements.
  • Train production and quality staff on standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control plans, and assembly-specific standards.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Quality Assurance Manager position brings a wealth of experience from a similar role within a manufacturing or assembly environment. You possess strong knowledge of ISO 9001 standards along with lean manufacturing principles. Your ability to lead quality teams, conduct audits, and handle compliance issues will be key to your success in this role. Your familiarity with electronic, mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly processes will be highly advantageous. Additionally, your excellent problem-solving skills and proficiency end-to-end quality engineering will be crucial.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Quality Assurance or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of quality management experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 standards, lean manufacturing principles, and assembly process control.
  • Experience leading quality teams, conducting audits, handling compliance issues.
  • Familiarity with electronic, mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly processes is an added advantage
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
