What you'll do:

As Senior Production Manager in Penang’s thriving manufacturing sector, you’ll be entrusted with energising the entire spectrum of plant operations. Your daily routine will involve strategic planning that aligns production processes with business goals while ensuring output targets are consistently met. You’ll collaborate enthusiastically with engineering, supply chain, and quality assurance teams to streamline workflows for optimal delivery times and exceptional product quality. By forecasting manpower needs accurately and scheduling production capacity efficiently, you’ll maintain operational excellence within budgetary limits. Your role includes championing continuous improvement initiatives—monitoring performance metrics closely through direct engagement with teams. You’ll coordinate various plant functions including resource allocation, skills development programmes for staff at all levels (especially operators), equipment maintenance schedules, and facility management tasks. Motivating your team members is central; you’ll provide guidance through training sessions and procedural advice while nurturing their professional growth. Safety is paramount—you’ll lead efforts to eliminate workplace hazards by organising regular safety training sessions that reinforce company policies. Additionally, you’ll engage with suppliers regularly to evaluate their performance against set standards whilst gaining valuable knowledge about available products/services. Participation in improvement projects related to efficiency gains or cost reductions forms part of your remit alongside any other duties assigned by senior management.

  • Lead efforts to create a safe and healthy workplace by eliminating hazards proactively, providing comprehensive safety training for employees, and promoting safety awareness according to company policies.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Applied Sciences—or related fields—demonstrates your academic foundation for this role.
  • At least 8 years’ experience in production environments coupled with 3 years’ managerial experience ensures you bring proven expertise to the team.
  • Hands-on background in manufacturing management roles with demonstrated improvements in measurable quality metrics shows your commitment to excellence.
  • Solid knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles supported by practical experience enables you to drive process optimisation effectively.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems—including PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), JIT (Just-In-Time), Kanban methodologies—ensures efficient workflow management.
  • Strong command of spoken/written English as well as Malay and Chinese/Mandarin facilitates clear communication across diverse teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills allow you to connect empathetically with colleagues at all levels—especially operator groups—for harmonious collaboration.
  • Ability to perform multi-tasking under pressure while meeting tight deadlines highlights your dependability during challenging periods.
