If you are passionate about making a difference in healthcare through technology, this is your chance to be part of something extraordinary.

  • Enjoy flexible hybrid working arrangements that promote work-life balance while supporting your career ambitions within a globally recognised medical technology leader.
  • Benefit from extensive training and development opportunities, including access to onsite fitness facilities, meal subsidies, travel allowance, and comprehensive health coverage.
  • Join a diverse and inclusive team where your skills in Kubernetes, Linux administration, and cloud environments will be valued as you help shape the future of healthcare technology.

What you'll do:

As a Kubernetes and Linux System Engineer based in Penang’s regional headquarters for Asia Pacific operations, you will immerse yourself in the planning and execution of vital IT functions that keep mission-critical healthcare systems running smoothly. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve not only maintaining high availability through diligent monitoring but also proactively identifying areas for improvement in system performance. You will be entrusted with deploying robust Kubernetes clusters across both cloud-based and on-premises environments while ensuring all server installations meet stringent quality standards. Working collaboratively with internal teams as well as external service providers, you will document best practices meticulously so that knowledge is shared effectively throughout the department. Your ability to troubleshoot complex issues swiftly—whether during regular hours or as part of an on-call rotation—will be key to minimising downtime. By automating repetitive tasks using advanced scripting skills and managing virtualised infrastructure efficiently, you will directly contribute to the organisation’s reputation for technological excellence in healthcare.

  • Plan and execute daily administrative tasks such as system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and proactive error prevention to ensure optimal system stability.
  • Oversee the deployment of Kubernetes clusters as well as server installations, maintenance activities, and lifecycle management for both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Coordinate with external support providers to ensure seamless delivery of IT services and timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for all systems processes, configurations, deployments, and incident responses to support knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Support the problem management process by participating in on-call rotations under a Follow-The-Sun model to provide continuous operational coverage.
  • Implement recommended solutions based on thorough analysis of incidents or system anomalies to prevent recurrence and enhance overall reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align IT infrastructure initiatives with organisational goals and project requirements.
  • Manage patching cycles, upgrades, operating system backups, restores, and other essential maintenance tasks for enterprise Linux servers.
  • Utilise scripting languages such as Perl, Python or Bash to automate routine operations and improve efficiency across IT processes.
  • Monitor x86 server hardware performance and manage virtualisation platforms like VMware vSphere to optimise resource utilisation.

What you bring:

To excel as a Kubernetes and Linux System Engineer within this renowned medical technology organisation, you will bring a solid foundation in computer science coupled with hands-on experience managing complex IT infrastructures at scale. Your deep familiarity with cloud technologies—especially Kubernetes—and configuration management tools like Ansible or Puppet will enable you to deliver robust solutions tailored for enterprise needs. Certifications such as Red Hat Linux or OpenShift further demonstrate your commitment to professional development. Beyond technical prowess, your ability to communicate clearly across teams ensures smooth coordination during deployments or incident responses. You thrive when automating processes using scripting languages such as Perl or Python; this not only streamlines operations but also frees up time for more strategic initiatives. Your attention to detail shines through meticulous documentation practices that foster knowledge sharing among peers. Above all else, your collaborative spirit helps create an environment where everyone feels supported—making you an invaluable member of this high-performing IT team.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline with proven experience in cloud technologies including Kubernetes administration.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Red Hat Satellite along with configuration management tools such as Ansible and Puppet for large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Certification in Red Hat Linux or OpenShift is considered advantageous for this position.
  • Extensive background in planning, implementing, administering, troubleshooting, monitoring, and proactively maintaining complex Linux-Server infrastructures both on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Proficiency in patching cycles, upgrading systems software, performing reliable operating system backups/restores within enterprise settings.
  • Advanced scripting abilities using Perl, Python or Bash to automate operational workflows efficiently.
  • Hands-on experience managing x86 server hardware resources alongside virtualisation platforms like VMware vSphere.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills enabling effective collaboration with colleagues from diverse backgrounds as well as external partners.
  • Strong commitment to documentation standards ensuring clarity and consistency across all technical records maintained by the team.
