What you'll do:
As a Senior FCT Engineer based in Kulim, you will play an integral part in ensuring that new products move seamlessly from design through to full-scale manufacturing. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing all facets of manufacturing testing – from overseeing equipment setup and calibration to evaluating customer-specific test methods. You will collaborate extensively with product engineers during new product introductions, proactively influencing design decisions for manufacturability. By monitoring key metrics such as yield and uptime performance, you will help drive continuous improvement initiatives across the production floor. Your expertise will also be called upon when working directly with customers to resolve technical challenges or implement requested enhancements. In addition to hands-on technical duties, you will nurture the growth of technicians by sharing your knowledge in tester operation and debugging techniques. This multifaceted role offers you the chance to make meaningful contributions within a supportive team environment while expanding your own skill set.
- Oversee the transition of new products and processes from engineering into manufacturing and the supply chain, ensuring all requirements are met for successful implementation.
- Take responsibility for all aspects of manufacturing test operations including functional circuit testing (FCT), system testing (SYST), environmental stress screening (ESS), and related activities.
- Manage the setup, maintenance, calibration, evaluation, and troubleshooting of all manufacturing test equipment and fixtures to guarantee optimal performance.
- Evaluate customer product test methods, drive enhancements, and conduct root cause analysis on returned material authorisation (RMA) test failures.
- Collaborate closely with product engineering teams to define manufacturing requirements during the New Product Development process.
- Monitor and manage test yield, uptime performance, and capacity analysis across all test processes to support production goals.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to address quality issues, improve test yields, and perform thorough root cause analyses.
- Engage directly with customers to resolve any test-related issues or requests for improvements, ensuring their needs are met promptly and effectively.
- Partner with suppliers or developers on hardware/software development projects aimed at optimising or enhancing current test methods and processes.
- Support Test Technicians in developing operational skills for testers as well as maintenance and troubleshooting capabilities; assist Debug Technicians in advancing their debugging methods.
What you bring:

Your experience spans multiple facets of electronics manufacturing – from hands-on equipment management through advanced failure analysis – allowing you to contribute meaningfully at every stage of the product lifecycle. You are adept at interpreting complex technical documentation and translating it into actionable solutions that benefit both internal teams and external customers. Your ability to share knowledge generously supports technician development while your attention to detail ensures high standards are maintained throughout all testing activities. With your commitment to continuous learning and openness to feedback from colleagues or clients alike, you are well-positioned to thrive in this role while helping others grow alongside you.
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or an equivalent qualification that demonstrates your technical foundation.
- Bring at least five years’ experience in PCBA or box system manufacturing or test engineering roles within an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) environment.
- Demonstrate familiarity with various testing methodologies as well as a solid understanding of functional circuit testing programmes.
- Possess hands-on experience with environmental stress screening (ESS) or highly accelerated stress screening (HASS) chambers; able to create custom test profiles and fixtures based on customer specifications.
- Show proficiency in both analog and digital circuit theory along with statistical analysis tools; capable of performing failure analysis from system level down to individual device boards.
- Be comfortable operating essential test instruments such as digital oscilloscopes, LCR meters, spectrum analysers, among others used in electronics testing environments.
- Display an aptitude for interpreting customer documentation including schematics, drawings, CAD files, component datasheets, enabling effective troubleshooting and solution development.
- Have experience configuring, deploying, and validating application software or test programmes across Windows or Unix platforms as required by specific projects.
- Demonstrate knowledge of test automation principles; able to collaborate with suppliers or customers to optimise existing or develop new testing methods/processes for improved efficiency.
