What you'll do:
As an Inductor Engineer based in Penang, you will immerse yourself in every stage of the product development process for cutting-edge inductors. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with marketing, R&D, manufacturing teams, and external partners to ensure that each new product not only meets but exceeds customer expectations. You will be responsible for translating complex market requirements into practical engineering solutions by designing reliable inductors using advanced magnetic principles. Your work will include developing prototypes, conducting thorough simulations using industry-leading software tools, validating designs through comprehensive testing regimes, and supporting manufacturing scale-up. By providing technical guidance throughout the process—from initial concept through production—you will help drive continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a strong focus on quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. - Take responsibility for the full lifecycle of inductor product development, from initial concept through to final production release.
- Collaborate with marketing teams and key customers to analyse market requirements and communicate findings effectively to product management and research and development teams.
- Formulate strategic plans for the inductor programme by working closely with marketing, product management, and R&D stakeholders.
- Design and develop inductors for a variety of applications, ensuring each solution meets stringent performance and reliability standards.
- Work alongside manufacturing teams and sub-contract suppliers to translate innovative designs into high-quality finished products ready for market.
- Develop robust test methods and comprehensive qualification plans to demonstrate product performance under real-world conditions.
- Utilise electromagnetic simulation tools to analyse and simulate inductor performance, correlating results with actual test data for accuracy.
- Create and validate prototypes that meet both customer expectations and internal product requirements through rigorous testing protocols.
- Provide expert technical support during all phases of product testing and validation, ensuring any issues are addressed promptly.
- Optimise designs for cost-effectiveness and manufacturability without compromising on quality or performance.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline with at least five years’ experience designing inductors for commercial applications.
- Demonstrated expertise in ceramic core wire-wound RF inductors including hands-on experience with their design principles.
- Comprehensive understanding of electromagnetic theory as it applies to advanced inductor design across multiple application areas.
- Proficiency in using electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, Maxwell or COMSOL to model component behaviour accurately.
- Experience working with advanced magnetic materials including their selection and application within high-performance devices.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes relevant to inductors as well as associated materials science considerations.
- Strong analytical skills combined with a methodical approach to problem-solving when addressing technical challenges or root cause analysis.
- Proven track record in prototype development coupled with extensive experience conducting rigorous product testing protocols.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling you to present complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences including non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive within cross-functional teams by building positive relationships based on trust, empathy, cooperation, and shared goals; project management skills are highly valued.
- Knowledge of industry standards governing inductor design along with regulatory compliance requirements; familiarity with PCB design/layout tools is advantageous.
