This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about ensuring the smooth operation of all maintenance, engineering, and manufacturing processes within a modern plant setting. The successful candidate will play a pivotal part by implementing robust preventive maintenance systems.
What you'll do:
As a Plant Engineer based in Selangor, you will play an integral role in ensuring the seamless operation of all aspects related to maintenance, engineering, and manufacturing processes within the facility. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include monitoring key performance metrics for equipment reliability and departmental efficiency; developing robust preventive maintenance strategies; supporting audit preparations; leading or assisting with various improvement projects; collaborating with colleagues across departments; mentoring less experienced staff; upholding safety standards; troubleshooting technical challenges; and maintaining detailed documentation. Success in this role will require you to combine your technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills so you can effectively share knowledge, support others’ development, and drive positive change throughout the plant environment.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators such as equipment mean time between failures, mean time to repair, maintenance expenditure, project completion rates, and overtime within the engineering department to ensure targets are consistently met.
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance systems for critical plant equipment to maximise reliability and minimise downtime.
- Apply your understanding of good manufacturing practices to enhance existing processes and introduce effective design improvements throughout the plant.
- Support audit activities by preparing documentation, facilitating inspections, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Lead or assist in the planning and execution of manufacturing improvement projects that may involve process enhancements, equipment upgrades, civil works, building mechanical systems or automation solutions.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for operational improvement and contribute to the achievement of shared objectives.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members within the engineering department to foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies as well as industry best practices.
- Participate actively in troubleshooting sessions to resolve technical issues quickly while minimising disruption to production schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed, project progress updates, and any modifications made to plant equipment or systems.
What you bring:
To excel as a Plant Engineer in this role, you will bring substantial hands-on experience gained from working in similar industrial or manufacturing environments. Your background should demonstrate not only technical proficiency but also your ability to guide others through supervisory responsibilities. You will be adept at designing preventive maintenance plans that deliver tangible results for plant reliability. Familiarity with good manufacturing practices is crucial as you help embed these standards into everyday operations. Your previous involvement in audits will enable you to navigate compliance requirements smoothly. Additionally, your history of participating in process optimisation projects—whether through equipment upgrades or automation—will set you apart. Strong communication skills are vital for fostering collaboration across teams while your organisational talents ensure tasks are completed efficiently. Above all else, your willingness to share expertise generously contributes positively to both team morale and overall plant performance.
- A minimum of 6 to 10 years’ proven experience performing maintenance work within an industrial or manufacturing setting is essential for this role.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity where you have supported or guided other team members is required.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes that improve equipment reliability over time.
- Sound knowledge of good manufacturing practices (GMP) with practical experience applying these principles in daily operations.
- Experience supporting audit activities including preparation of documentation and facilitation of inspections is highly desirable.
- Proven track record contributing to or leading process improvement initiatives involving equipment upgrades or automation projects.
- Excellent communication skills enabling you to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organisational abilities allowing you to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Commitment to upholding safety standards at all times during maintenance activities or project work.
