A leading global engineering consultancy is seeking an Engineering Software Specialist with expertise in Hexagon SmartPlant 3D (S3D) and SmartPlant P&ID (SPID) to join their Kuala Lumpur team. You will be at the heart of a collaborative, multicultural environment, supporting teams across APAC, North America, and South America. Playing a key role in administering and optimising core engineering design applications used on global projects, ensuring efficient use of both 2D and 3D tools.

What you'll do:

As an Engineering Software Specialist – Hexagon S3D and SPID based in Kuala Lumpur, you will play a central role in supporting the administration and optimisation of essential engineering design platforms. Your day-to-day activities will involve :

  • Administer user accounts, manage project setup processes, update catalogues and specifications, and configure settings within Hexagon S3D and SPID to ensure smooth operation across all active projects.
  • Maintain comprehensive reference data libraries so that all project and engineering standards are accurately reflected in system configurations.
  • Support integration between S3D, SPID, Smart Reference Data (SRD), Smart Materials (SMAT), SPF, SDx, and other downstream applications to enable seamless data flow throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure alignment between 2D schematics and 3D models by maintaining consistency within the engineering database for all ongoing assignments.
  • Develop custom reports tailored for discipline leads to enhance traceability, quality assurance, and transparency across all design deliverables.
  • Deliver engaging training sessions for engineering teams on best practices for using S3D and SPID while acting as the first line of technical support for any issues encountered.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow enhancements by collaborating closely with engineering teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate actively in tool upgrades and configuration testing to guarantee system stability and optimal performance during transitions or updates.
  • Provide guidance on proper use of engineering systems in accordance with corporate data governance policies while supporting audits through meticulous maintenance of clean, traceable project data.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders such as super users, subject matter experts, solutions managers, and external vendors to resolve technical challenges efficiently.

What you bring:

To excel as an Engineering Software Specialist – Hexagon S3D and SPID, you will bring a solid foundation in engineering technology or information technology supported by relevant qualifications. Your practical experience administering SmartPlant 3D (S3D) and SPID within large-scale EPC/EPCM projects equips you with deep insight into plant design workflows as well as the intricacies of integrating multiple software platforms. Your background should include :

  • Diploma or certificate in Engineering Technology, Information Technology or a related field is required; a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science is highly desirable.
  • Formal Hexagon training in S3D and SPID or equivalent hands-on experience is essential for success in this role.
  • At least three to five years’ experience working with SmartPlant 3D (S3D) and SPID within an EPC/EPCM project environment is necessary.
  • Comprehensive understanding of plant design workflows as well as data relationships between P&IDs and 3D models is expected.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating S3D/SPID with SRD, SMAT, SDx or similar platforms is highly valued.
  • Proven ability to set up and maintain catalogues/specifications within complex engineering software environments is important.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills combined with analytical thinking are crucial for resolving technical challenges quickly.
  • Fluency in English is required; additional fluency in Spanish or Portuguese would be advantageous when supporting international teams.
  • Willingness to provide support across multiple time zones including APAC, North America, and South America demonstrates flexibility.
  • Commitment to upholding corporate data governance policies while supporting audits through accurate record-keeping is vital.
