R&D Assistant Manager (Retail - F&B)

What You’ll Do

As the R&D Assistant Manager (Retail - F&B), you will be at the forefront of driving innovation and ensuring successful product launches. Your key responsibilities include:

A. New Product Strategy & Pipeline Management

• Develop and manage a robust pipeline of innovative and profitable products aligned with business strategy and market needs.
• Monitor project progress and adjust plans as needed to ensure consistent annual rollouts.

B. Product Development & Commercialization

• Lead the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to market launch, ensuring timely execution.
• Create prototypes, conduct tastings, and refine products based on feedback.
• Own recipes and food costing across all menus, including new products.

C. Cost Optimization & Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Finance to prepare accurate product costings.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives by testing and qualifying lower-cost raw materials without compromising quality.

D. Production, Packaging & Certification

• Oversee production trials, packaging development, and regulatory compliance (Halal certification, HACCP).
• Ensure all documentation is completed before product launch.

E. Food Safety, Quality & Process Alignment

• Uphold food safety standards and collaborate with Quality Management for process alignment audits.

F. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to ensure smooth product development and launch execution.

What You’ll Bring

We’re seeking a dynamic individual with a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related fields (Marketing or Business Management is a plus).
• At least 5 years of proven experience in food product development within QSR, FMCG, or the food industry.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively.
• Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; excellent communication skills are essential.
• Advanced computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with strong analytical abilities to interpret market data and research insights.
• A creative mindset paired with strategic thinking to anticipate challenges and opportunities.
