This role presents an exciting opportunity for you to drive system reliability, enhance cybersecurity measures, and shape the future of automation across manufacturing operations.

You will be empowered to collaborate with cross-functional teams, integrate cutting-edge technologies, and contribute to strategic planning that aligns with organisational goals. The company values your expertise and offers flexible working opportunities alongside ongoing training and development, ensuring you can grow both personally and professionally while making a meaningful contribution.

  • Play a pivotal role in maintaining the reliability and availability of critical operational systems, minimising downtime and supporting continuous business operations through collaborative teamwork.
  • Enjoy flexible working opportunities and access to ongoing training programmes designed to support your professional growth and keep your skills at the forefront of industry developments.
  • Be part of a knowledgeable network where your input is valued, fostering an inclusive culture that encourages sharing ideas, supporting colleagues, and driving positive change throughout the organisation.

What you'll do:

As an Automation and Control Manager based in Shah Alam, you will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s approach to operational technology. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating closely with IT teams, evaluating new technologies for integration, optimising costs through resourceful solutions, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations. You will be responsible for developing incident response plans that safeguard business continuity while implementing performance monitoring tools that drive process optimisation. Success in this position requires a commitment to continuous improvement, a passion for sharing knowledge within your team network, and an ability to foster supportive relationships across departments. By contributing your expertise in automation protocols and cybersecurity measures, you will help create a resilient infrastructure that supports both current operations and future growth.

  • Ensure the reliability and availability of essential operational technology systems by implementing strategies that minimise downtime and maintain seamless operations.
  • Develop comprehensive risk management plans by identifying potential threats such as cybersecurity risks, equipment failures, and other operational challenges, safeguarding critical assets.
  • Implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect operational technology systems from unauthorised access, data breaches, and emerging cyber threats while staying informed about industry trends.
  • Maintain compliance with internal operating manuals as well as industry regulations and standards governing operational technology systems by proactively updating processes as required.
  • Evaluate new technologies for integration into existing systems to enhance efficiency, automation, and overall performance while developing roadmaps for upgrades aligned with business objectives.
  • Optimise operational costs by identifying areas for efficiency improvements within the OT environment while balancing technology investments with resource optimisation for maximum return.
  • Foster collaboration between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) teams to ensure alignment of strategies and seamless integration across platforms.
  • Develop incident response plans to address disruptions or security incidents promptly while establishing recovery strategies that facilitate swift returns to normal operations.
  • Implement monitoring tools and performance metrics to assess the health and efficiency of operational technology systems while continuously optimising processes for enhanced performance.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning for OT infrastructure by aligning technology initiatives with organisational goals and providing guidance on future direction.

What you bring:

To excel as an Automation and Control Manager, you will bring proven experience from the manufacturing sector along with technical expertise in PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and automation protocols. Your background should include hands-on involvement with OT cybersecurity practices as well as familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements. You will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills by collaborating effectively across teams while sharing insights that support collective success. Your ability to adapt quickly to new technologies—such as Siemens or B&R platforms—and optimise resources will be key assets. Additionally, your attention to detail when monitoring system performance combined with your commitment to ongoing learning ensures you remain dependable within a knowledgeable network dedicated to continuous improvement.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline is required for this position.
  • At least five years of relevant experience within the manufacturing industry is essential to ensure effective management of complex operational technology environments.
  • Proven knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems is mandatory for success in this role.
  • Experience working with Siemens, B&R or B&W technologies is considered advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn new platforms is highly valued.
  • Strong PC skills coupled with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are necessary for managing documentation, reporting, and communication tasks effectively.
  • A solid understanding of automation communication protocols is required to facilitate seamless integration between various systems within the organisation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity practices is crucial for protecting critical assets against emerging threats.
  • Familiarity with SAP Maintenance Module will be viewed favourably as it supports efficient asset management within the OT environment.
  • Experience setting up networks or possessing knowledge in network configuration is considered an advantage when integrating new technologies into existing infrastructure.
