What you'll do:

In the capacity of Life Claims Specialist – Death and Critical Illness based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be entrusted with overseeing the comprehensive management of major life insurance claims. Your daily undertakings will encompass meticulous registration processes, thorough investigative work, judicious assessment procedures, timely authorisation or escalation of cases beyond your remit, as well as clear communication with legal representatives when circumstances require.

  • Register, reserve, assess, review, investigate, approve, and process payments for major life insurance claims such as death and critical illness within your designated authority limits.
  • Recommend claims that exceed your approval authority to higher-level decision makers while ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Liaise thoughtfully with solicitors and third parties during investigations and negotiations to ensure the best outcomes for all stakeholders involved.
  • Deliver comprehensive training to new joiners on product knowledge and claims assessment skills according to established standards and guidelines.
  • Provide ongoing coaching for both current team members and new hires on system usage and assessment techniques to help them achieve certification under Claims Approval Authority guidelines.
  • Monitor individual quality metrics, turnaround times, and productivity benchmarks to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service.
  • Assist with data analysis for reporting purposes and trends analysis to support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Support the development of skill sets among Major Claims Assessors by sharing knowledge and fostering a nurturing learning environment.

What you bring:

To excel as a Life Claims Specialist – Death and Critical Illness, you will possess demonstrable experience in evaluating complex insurance claims alongside robust academic credentials in biomedical or health-related disciplines. Your background should reflect not only technical competence but also an ability to communicate sensitively with clients facing difficult circumstances. Fluency in multiple languages is particularly valued given Kuala Lumpur’s multicultural context.
