Save job

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys cross-border teamwork, and is eager to play a key part in the first offshore setup of its kind for this organisation. You will be instrumental in streamlining finance and fund operations, working closely with both local and Singaporean colleagues, and contributing to the ongoing success of a respected investment management business.

What you'll do:

As Finance and Administration Manager – Asset Management, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and supporting the organisation’s new offshore finance function in Kuala Lumpur. Your day-to-day responsibilities will centre around ensuring smooth corporate accounting operations—particularly accounts payable and receivable—while also taking an active role in fund administration tasks such as product review, cash flow management, payment processing, and occasional involvement in product structuring.

  • Oversee daily corporate accounting functions including accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure accurate financial records are maintained at all times.
  • Support fund operations by reviewing investment products on a day-to-day basis, managing cash projections, processing payments, and participating in product structuring activities as required.
  • Coordinate closely with the fund administration team based in Singapore to ensure seamless communication, data sharing, and operational alignment across borders.
  • Assist with the transition of various corporate accounting and fund operations functions from Singapore to Malaysia as part of the organisation’s new offshore setup.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members in Malaysia, leveraging your commercial experience to foster their growth and understanding of asset management practices.
  • Participate actively in middle office activities such as data gathering and analytics to support decision-making processes within the wider finance team.
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements during the initial setup phase by collaborating with external partners such as Employer of Record (EOR) providers until full incorporation is achieved.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining services across finance operations while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Engage regularly with senior stakeholders through meetings and reporting lines, particularly with direct oversight from the hiring manager based in Singapore.
  • Support ongoing performance review cycles by providing input into annual increment discussions and performance bonus allocations.

What you bring:

To excel as Finance and Administration Manager – Asset Management, you should bring substantial hands-on experience in corporate accounting functions such as AP/AR alongside familiarity with fund administration processes.

  • Demonstrated experience managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) within a corporate accounting environment is essential for this role.
  • A background in fund accounting or previous exposure to asset management operations will be highly regarded when supporting complex investment products.
  • Proven ability to coordinate effectively with remote teams across different countries while maintaining strong interpersonal relationships is crucial.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff members is desirable as you will be expected to provide guidance within the growing Malaysian team.
  • Commercial acumen gained from working within asset management firms—particularly private equity or venture capital—is preferred for coaching less experienced colleagues.
  • Familiarity with local statutory requirements related to finance operations in Malaysia will help ensure compliance during the initial setup phase.
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary for regular interactions with senior stakeholders both locally and internationally.
  • A proactive approach towards process improvement initiatives will enable you to contribute meaningfully to service streamlining efforts across finance functions.
  • Comfortable participating in data analytics or middle office projects that support broader business objectives within investment management.
  • Willingness to travel between Malaysia and Singapore for onboarding sessions, training periods, or ongoing collaboration is important.

What sets this company apart:

This organisation stands out as an industry leader due to its forward-thinking approach towards international expansion and commitment to nurturing talent across borders. By launching its first offshore finance operation outside Singapore, it demonstrates both confidence in its people-centric culture and dedication to fostering inclusive growth opportunities.
