What you'll do:
As Group Tax Manager based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be entrusted with end-to-end responsibility for managing the organisation’s global tax affairs. Your day-to-day will involve close interaction with internal stakeholders—finance professionals, commercial managers, legal experts—and external partners such as renowned advisory firms. You will ensure that every aspect of tax compliance is meticulously handled across all jurisdictions where the group operates. Your expertise will be called upon to provide actionable advice on complex transactions and new market entries while supporting budgeting processes through effective planning strategies. You will also play a crucial role in developing governance frameworks that keep pace with regulatory changes worldwide. By mentoring finance team members on evolving legislation and best practices in taxation, you will foster a culture of continuous learning. * Oversee all aspects of the group’s tax compliance function across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accurate and timely fulfilment of obligations in multiple international locations as required.
* Manage the preparation, review, and lodgement of corporate income tax returns as well as other statutory filings such as GST/VAT, FBT, payroll taxes, sales and use taxes, ensuring full adherence to local regulations.
* Coordinate with external tax advisers (including Big 4 firms) and local consultants to ensure all compliance requirements are met efficiently and effectively.
* Maintain a comprehensive tax compliance calendar to monitor key filing deadlines and payment schedules across all operating regions.
* Collaborate with local finance teams to gather data for responses to external advisers or authorities regarding computations or queries.
* Provide practical tax advice to senior management on business activities, transactions, structures, contracts, and commercial arrangements.
* Support the development and implementation of robust tax planning strategies that optimise global tax efficiency while mitigating risks.
* Manage transfer pricing frameworks by maintaining appropriate policies and documentation for intercompany arrangements and cross-border transactions.
* Oversee applications for tax incentives (such as R&D claims), ensuring eligible activities are identified and documented in line with legislative requirements.
* Lead the preparation and review of corporate and deferred tax provisions for financial disclosures in collaboration with auditors.

* CA, CPA or Master of Tax qualification (or equivalent) demonstrating advanced technical proficiency in taxation principles.
* At least five years’ proven experience in a specialist corporate tax role within multinational environments; experience from Big 4 or leading second-tier firms highly regarded.
* Comprehensive understanding of Australian corporate taxation coupled with hands-on exposure to international tax matters spanning multiple jurisdictions.
* Practical experience managing direct taxes (corporate income), indirect taxes (GST/VAT/FBT/payroll/sales/use), withholding taxes, transfer pricing policies, and cross-border issues.
* Demonstrated ability to manage complex compliance requirements across several countries simultaneously while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
* Exceptional communication skills enabling you to explain intricate tax concepts clearly to non-specialists at all levels of the business.
* Proficiency in stakeholder engagement—working collaboratively with internal teams as well as external advisers or regulatory bodies to achieve shared objectives.
* Familiarity with International Accounting Standards (IAS) relevant to tax accounting treatments for financial reporting purposes.
* Excellent written skills for preparing reports or submissions; strong verbal skills for presenting recommendations or negotiating outcomes during audits or disputes.
* Advanced time management abilities allowing you to prioritise tasks effectively within fast-moving environments; medium-to-advanced Excel skills essential.
