What you'll do:
As a Tax Accountant based in Kuala Lumpur, you will immerse yourself in a variety of responsibilities that span the full spectrum of tax compliance activities. Your day-to-day work will involve preparing intricate tax returns across multiple jurisdictions—most notably Singapore—while ensuring all filings are accurate and submitted on time. You will analyse financial data to respond efficiently to inquiries from business partners and management. By collaborating closely with different departments, you will help establish best practices that guarantee ongoing compliance with evolving regulations. Your ability to interpret complex information will enable you to provide insightful recommendations that support strategic decision-making. - Prepare and complete federal, state, local, property, sales, and other tax returns and reports with a primary focus on Singapore by adhering strictly to all relevant requirements and deadlines.
- Perform detailed tax accounting tasks including calculating estimated tax payments, advising management on required actions, assembling data for monthly and annual indirect tax as well as corporate income tax filings.
- Stay up-to-date with current tax laws affecting the company by studying regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and engaging with professional organisations.
- Respond promptly to financial and tax inquiries by gathering, analysing, summarising, and interpreting complex data sets to provide clear insights for business partners.
- Provide expert tax advice by studying operational issues thoroughly, applying taxation principles and practices effectively, formulating practical solutions, and developing actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate across departmental divisions to ensure optimal processes are established throughout the organisation for robust tax compliance.
- Assist in managing the tax implications of mergers and acquisitions by supporting due diligence activities and contributing valuable insights during integration planning.
- Support internal or external audits related to taxation by preparing necessary documentation and responding accurately to auditor queries.
