What you'll do:

As an Associate Tax based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be immersed in a dynamic environment where your expertise will directly impact the organisation’s ability to meet its tax obligations efficiently while supporting strategic business decisions. Your day-to-day activities will involve managing compliance processes for both direct and indirect taxes across multiple jurisdictions—primarily Malaysia and Singapore—with opportunities to expand your scope as the company grows internationally.   • Oversee all aspects of tax compliance matters for both direct and indirect taxes within the group, focusing on Malaysia and Singapore with potential expansion into additional jurisdictions as required.
  • Ensure timely fulfilment of all tax compliance requirements by coordinating closely with internal teams and external consultants to maintain accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Manage tax risks proactively by identifying potential issues early on and providing comprehensive advisory support to various business groups within the organisation.
  • Assist in the execution of assigned projects by collaborating with local and overseas consultants on complex tax matters relevant to the business segments.
  • Monitor progress and status of ongoing tasks to ensure full compliance with tax incentives while keeping stakeholders informed of developments.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across departments to facilitate smooth information flow and effective resolution of tax-related queries or challenges.
  • Engage constructively with tax authorities regarding incentives, grants, and other regulatory matters to secure optimal outcomes for the organisation.
  • Advise on cross-border taxation issues such as profit repatriation strategies, withholding taxes, permanent establishment considerations, and related international tax planning topics.
  • Participate actively in any additional tasks or special projects as assigned by management to support broader organisational objectives.

What you bring:

To excel as an Associate Tax in this esteemed organisation, you should bring proven experience from either a reputable accounting firm or an established corporate tax department. Your academic background should include accountancy qualifications such as ACCA or CPA—or their equivalents—ensuring you have solid technical foundations. While knowledge of the oil & gas or renewables sectors would be beneficial due to the nature of the business segments involved, it is your ability to adapt quickly within evolving environments that will set you apart.   • Demonstrate familiarity with the oil and gas sector or renewable energy industries; prior exposure is considered an added advantage but not mandatory.
