What you'll do:
As a Tax Manager based in Putrajaya within a prominent property development group, you will play an instrumental role in steering the organisation’s approach to taxation across its regional operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve not only ensuring meticulous compliance with all statutory requirements but also providing insightful advisory support on complex corporate taxation matters. You will work collaboratively with finance professionals both internally and externally to address multifaceted challenges such as transfer pricing documentation, global minimum tax obligations, real property gains assessments, and more. By staying ahead of regulatory changes in Malaysia as well as Singapore, China, and Hong Kong, you will help safeguard the organisation’s interests while identifying opportunities for optimisation. Your ability to foster strong working relationships will be essential as you liaise with various stakeholders—ensuring seamless communication between departments and external consultants alike. Success in this role means delivering reliable results under tight deadlines while contributing positively to strategic decision-making processes that drive sustainable growth.
* Oversee all aspects of tax compliance for the group of companies by reviewing and submitting tax returns and estimates while ensuring timely payments to relevant authorities.
* Monitor and follow up on tax refunds or credits with tax authorities to maximise financial efficiency for the organisation.
* Supervise the preparation and submission of transfer pricing documentation, Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR), Global Minimum Tax (GMT), Real Property Gains Tax (RPGT) returns, capital gains tax returns, and other related filings.
* Manage tax audits, investigations, and inquiries from authorities by developing effective strategies to address queries or disputes promptly.
* Identify opportunities for tax optimisation initiatives that enhance overall efficiency and reduce liabilities for the group.
* Provide comprehensive tax advisory services to business units on corporate tax matters as well as indirect taxes such as Sales and Services Tax (SST), Value Added Tax (VAT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), transfer pricing issues, capital gains tax, and more.
* Collaborate closely with Finance teams and business units to assess the impact of key business decisions on taxation outcomes.
* Stay updated on evolving tax legislation in Malaysia and internationally to proactively manage potential implications for the group’s operations.
* Foster productive relationships with internal stakeholders in Finance and Accounting as well as external partners including consultants and authorities across multiple jurisdictions.
* Oversee the implementation of new tax regulations to ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant local and international standards.

Your background should include significant exposure to both Malaysian corporate taxation frameworks as well as international considerations relevant to Singaporean, Chinese or Hong Kong markets. A recognised professional qualification such as CTIM membership or equivalent is essential alongside proven managerial experience gained over several years. Your approach should reflect a deep understanding of corporate governance principles coupled with robust risk management capabilities—enabling you to navigate intricate regulatory environments confidently. * Professional qualification from Chartered Institution of Tax Malaysia (CTIM), ACCA, CIMA or MIA membership is preferred for this position.
* At least 8 years’ relevant experience in taxation roles with a minimum of 3 years spent in managerial capacity within property development or multinational corporations or professional services firms.
* Demonstrated functional exposure in corporate governance practices as well as compliance and risk management frameworks within large organisations.
* Technical expertise in Malaysian taxation laws complemented by practical experience handling cross-border issues involving Singapore, China, or Hong Kong jurisdictions is highly desirable.
* Proven analytical skills combined with effective problem-solving abilities when addressing complex taxation scenarios or regulatory challenges.
* Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to collaborate effectively within teams while also working independently when required by project demands.
* Strong sense of responsibility demonstrated through consistent commitment to meeting deadlines even under pressure from competing priorities.
* Ability to communicate clearly with both internal stakeholders such as finance teams and external parties including consultants or government authorities.
* Experience managing audits or investigations initiated by tax authorities using sound judgement to develop appropriate response strategies.
