What you'll do:

As a General Ledger Accountant in Kuala Lumpur, you’ll be responsible for journal entries, account reconciliations, audit support, and compliance monitoring. The role requires strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and benefit from ongoing professional development—ideal for someone who values teamwork, accuracy, and continuous growth.

  • Prepare accurate journal entries and maintain general ledger records in line with accounting standards and internal policies

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and compliance

  • Assist in preparing timely financial statements and support month-end/year-end closing activities

  • Collaborate with internal teams (AP, AR) and external auditors to support audits and resolve queries

  • Monitor internal controls and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

  • Support system or process improvement initiatives by offering practical input from daily operations

  • Stay updated on local tax laws and regulatory requirements to ensure timely, accurate reporting

  • Provide ad hoc reports and financial analysis as needed by management

  • Participate in team meetings, share progress, and support collective goals

What you bring:

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and dependable accounting professional with experience in managing complex GL tasks within a corporate environment. You’re well-versed in international accounting standards and familiar with key financial systems. Organised and adaptable, you handle multiple priorities with ease while collaborating effectively across teams. Your strong communication skills, audit readiness, and willingness to embrace change make you a valuable asset to any finance team.

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with proven experience in general ledger functions

  • Solid understanding of accounting standards (IFRS/local GAAP) and reconciliation processes

  • Proficient in accounting systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) and Excel for financial analysis

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines without compromising accuracy

  • High attention to detail and a methodical approach to ensure compliance and data integrity

  • Clear and professional communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration

  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn new systems or processes

  • Experience supporting month-end/year-end closing and financial reporting

  • Ability to identify and resolve issues during reconciliations or audits
