Accountant ( Mandarin speaker)

What you'll do:
As an Accountant based in Gelang Patah, Johor, you will be entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities that are crucial to the organisation’s financial operations. Your day-to-day tasks will involve managing full-set accounts, preparing comprehensive financial reports, overseeing month-end closings, and ensuring statutory compliance. You’ll also be actively involved in monitoring cash flow activities and collaborating with external parties such as auditors and tax agents. Success in this role requires attention to detail when reviewing transactions and preparing audit documentation. Additionally, you’ll contribute to budgeting efforts and support process improvement initiatives within the finance department. - You will handle full-set accounting duties including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and bank reconciliation to ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- You will prepare monthly management accounts, detailed financial reports, and supporting schedules to provide clear insights into the organisation’s financial health.
- You will manage month-end and year-end closing activities, guaranteeing timely and precise reporting for internal stakeholders.
- You will prepare statutory financial statements and assist with compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to local regulations.
- You will monitor cash flow, payments, collections, and other daily finance activities to maintain optimal liquidity for the business.
- You will handle SST, corporate tax, and other relevant statutory compliance matters with meticulous attention to detail.
- You will liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, and other external parties to facilitate smooth audit processes.
- You will prepare audit schedules and supporting documents for annual audits, ensuring all information is accurate and complete.
- You will review accounting transactions regularly to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- You will assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis when required by the finance team.
- You will identify discrepancies in accounting records and follow up on outstanding matters promptly.
- You will support process improvements and participate in ad-hoc finance projects as needed.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Accountant position brings proven experience in managing full-set accounts within a Malaysian context. Your educational background equips you with technical expertise while your hands-on experience ensures you can handle both operational tasks and reporting requirements efficiently. You possess strong interpersonal skills that allow you to collaborate seamlessly with colleagues across departments as well as external partners. Your proficiency with Excel enables you to analyse data effectively while familiarity with ERP systems helps streamline workflows. - A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline is essential for this position as it provides the foundational knowledge required for success.
- At least 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience is preferred, especially if you have exposure to full-set accounting responsibilities.
- Familiarity with Malaysian accounting standards, taxation laws, and statutory requirements is necessary for effective performance in this role.
- Experience handling month-end closing procedures and preparing statutory financial statements demonstrates your capability in operational accounting.
- Comfortable managing both day-to-day accounting operations as well as reporting matters shows your versatility within the finance function.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is important; experience using ERP or accounting systems would be advantageous for streamlining processes.
- Holding ACCA, MIA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent qualifications is considered an added advantage but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills enable you to liaise effectively with internal teams and external parties such as auditors or tax agents.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining dependability ensures tasks are completed accurately without constant supervision.
