A leading global organisation is seeking a Senior Associate, RTR (Asset Accounting) to join their Kuala Lumpur team. This role offers the opportunity to act as a key subject-matter expert for Record-to-Report (RTR) Asset Accounting activities, ensuring the accurate management of fixed asset transactions, depreciation, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.

You will independently manage complex asset accounting activities while ensuring delivery in accordance with SLAs, KPIs, work instructions, and internal controls. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys driving process improvements, collaborating with stakeholders, and contributing to operational excellence within a global shared services environment.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Associate, RTR (Asset Accounting), you will play a key role in managing end-to-end fixed asset accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Execute daily and monthly RTR Asset Accounting activities including asset capitalization, depreciation runs, asset transfers, retirements, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
• Process investment order settlements, capitalisation of project costs, and fixed asset transactions in accordance with accounting policies.
• Ensure accuracy of financial postings through review of supporting documentation, reconciliations, and closing activities.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing supporting schedules, documentation, and responding to audit queries.
• Perform root-cause analysis on asset accounting issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and support standardisation initiatives within RTR Asset Accounting processes.
• Participate in system testing, process enhancement projects, and change management activities.
• Update SOPs, control matrices, and process documentation when required.
• Support user training and knowledge sharing within the RTR team.
• Act as a subject matter expert by providing guidance on fixed asset accounting, depreciation, asset lifecycle management, and audit readiness.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Associate, RTR (Asset Accounting) role should have experience in fixed asset accounting operations, preferably within a global shared services environment.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related disciplines.
• 3–5 years of experience in Asset Accounting, RTR, Fixed Assets, Month-End Closing, or Financial Operations.
• Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting principles, capitalization policies, depreciation methodologies, and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience supporting audits and ensuring compliance with IFRS/GAAP standards.
• Hands-on experience with SAP FI/AA or similar ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA experience is advantageous).
• Strong account reconciliation and variance analysis skills with advanced Excel proficiency.
• Good understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to work across finance teams and business stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with a passion for process improvement and operational excellence.
• Experience within a shared services or multinational environment is preferred.
