A leading contract manufacturing organisation in Perai, Penang is seeking an Assistant Corporate Reporting Manager to join their Finance department.

This role offers you the opportunity to play a pivotal part in supporting group consolidation, statutory reporting, and tax compliance for a diverse group of companies. You will be working closely with experienced teams across accountancy, general ledger, financial reporting, and costing, ensuring accurate and timely submissions to auditors, tax agents, and authorities. The organisation is committed to providing structured handover and on-the-job training, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where your growth and development are prioritised. If you are looking for a role that values collaboration, knowledge sharing, and dependable processes within a well-established network, this position will offer you the chance to make a meaningful impact while advancing your career.

  • You will be joining a knowledgeable finance team that values collaboration and supports professional development through structured training and clear handover processes.
  • The role provides exposure to complex group consolidation activities, statutory reporting under MFRS, and hands-on involvement in tax compliance across multiple entities.
  • Enjoy working in an inclusive workplace where your organisational skills and commitment to accuracy are recognised and rewarded as you contribute to key business outcomes.

What you'll do:

As an Assistant Corporate Reporting Manager based in Perai, Penang, you will be responsible for driving the monthly group consolidation process by gathering entity-level inputs from site finance teams. Your day-to-day activities will involve preparing detailed reporting packs aligned with strict deadlines set by the group reporting calendar. You will collaborate closely with general ledger colleagues to review intercompany reconciliations, resolve discrepancies efficiently, and ensure all elimination entries are correctly mapped. Statutory reporting under MFRS will require your attention to detail as you support the preparation of financial statements for multiple entities. Tax compliance forms a significant part of your remit; you will prepare corporate tax computations and estimates while coordinating with external tax agents for smooth submissions. Additionally, you will handle SST returns and Singapore GST filings with thorough reconciliations. Your expertise will also be called upon when reviewing tax incentive applications compiled by the costing team or providing data support for transfer pricing documentation. During annual audits, you will prepare schedules and respond to auditor queries promptly. Maintaining SOPs and working files ensures that all processes remain documented to high standards. Success in this role means submitting monthly group reporting packages without escalation, resolving intercompany differences within close cycles, completing statutory audits on schedule, submitting accurate tax filings throughout the year, and documenting core processes ready for handover.

  • Prepare the monthly group consolidation pack in accordance with the established group reporting calendar, ensuring all data is accurately compiled from various site finance teams.
  • Submit comprehensive group reporting packages to the EMEA group, including mapping and elimination entries that reflect intercompany transactions.
  • Review intercompany reconciliations prepared by the general ledger team, resolving differences collaboratively with counterpart entities to maintain integrity of financial data.
  • Support the preparation of statutory financial statements for group entities under Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare corporate tax computations and estimates (CP204 / CP204A), liaising effectively with appointed tax agents for timely submission.
  • Compile SST returns and ASG (Singapore) GST filings with supporting reconciliations, maintaining meticulous records for audit purposes.
  • Review and submit tax incentive applications, MIDA returns, and statistical reports compiled by the costing team, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Provide robust data support for transfer pricing documentation as required by internal stakeholders or external authorities.
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents for the annual statutory audit cycle, responding promptly to auditor queries and tracking open items until closure.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and working files for all owned processes, ensuring documentation is up-to-date and capable of being handed over seamlessly.

What you bring:

To excel as an Assistant Corporate Reporting Manager in Prai, Penang you bring proven experience in accounting roles where group consolidation was a central responsibility alongside statutory reporting duties. Your background includes preparing financial statements under MFRS standards while navigating Malaysian corporate tax requirements confidently. You have demonstrated proficiency in using advanced Excel functions for handling large volumes of data during month-end closes or reconciliations. Familiarity with SAP FI or similar ERP platforms enhances your ability to adapt quickly within this environment. You thrive in collaborative settings where communication across teams—GL, costing, financial reporting—is essential for resolving issues swiftly. Attention to detail is evident throughout your work whether preparing audit schedules or maintaining SOPs that facilitate seamless handovers. Openness to learning new systems shows your adaptability as processes evolve within the finance function. Above all else your commitment to accuracy ensures reliable submissions across all facets of reporting and compliance.

  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA or MICPA or a degree in Accounting/Finance is essential for this role.
  • At least four years of relevant accounting experience including hands-on involvement in group consolidation activities and statutory reporting responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) as well as Malaysian corporate tax regulations is required; willingness to deepen expertise in both areas is highly valued.
  • Experience using SAP FI is advantageous but not mandatory; familiarity with other ERP systems may also be beneficial.
  • Advanced Excel skills are necessary as you must be comfortable working with large data sets during consolidation and reconciliation tasks.
  • Organisational skills are crucial; you should be deadline-driven with a methodical approach to managing multiple priorities within tight timelines.
  • Openness to learning new systems demonstrates adaptability which is important given ongoing process improvements within the finance function.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities enable effective collaboration across internal teams such as GL, costing, financial reporting as well as external parties like auditors or tax agents.
